Ghostly Elixirs system revamp

System change:

  • There are three regular 1 day Elixirs (displayed on the left side)
  • There are three regular Essence versions lasting 30 seconds (displayed on the left side and circling the Abi health circle over the 30 seconds, showing time left)
  • There are three Super Elixirs including Ghastly Expirience Essence (displayed on the right side)
  • Essence versions work in parallel to 1 day Elixirs (similarly to how Super Elixirs work in parallel to all regular Elixirs)

Healing Elixirs

Revenant Restorative - no changes

Spectral Cure-All - no changes

 

Shielding Elixirs

Unyielding Draught - no changes

Distilled Vengeance - duration lowered to 30 seconds, shield duration increase effect is removed
It now makes Abigail's shield reflect all damage done to her while the shield is active, as well as reflecting damage exceeding 75 from the initial hit which triggers the shield
~why? Distilled Vengeance is extremely niche and very expensive for how slightly better it is than its weaker counterpart - Unyielding Draught. This change will make it viable to use in some fight scenarios and compete with Spectral Cure-All which is abused all the time currently.

 

Enhancement Elixirs

Vigor Mortis - no changes

Nightshade Nostrum - duration lowered to 30 seconds
name changed to Ethereal Brine
"Salt of the Earth to sharpen the edge of the beyond."
Recipe: 1 Nitre, 3 Mourning Glory
Abigail's attacks deal an additional 50 damage.
~why? Nightshade Nostrum has limited use as a damage amplifier, being weak at dusk and useless at night or in caves. This change makes this Elixir highly usefull in all scenarios for much shorter time and a higher cost, as well as higher risk than 2 more defensive options of Essence Elixirs.

 

I believe these changes would diversify the Elixirs and encourage using them in different scenarios instead of just applying Spectral Cure-Alls all fights with not much thought. There are some fights where this version of Distilled Vengeance or Ethereal Brine would be better to use instead.
In my opinion that is all we should ask for - the incentive to use different Elixirs depending on the given situation.

 

Other elixir-esque changes

Picnic Casket has 9 slots to hold all Elixirs, including both Lunar and Shadow Super Elixirs.

Lunar and Shadow Super Elixirs both work the same but for their sides - they make Abigail take -10% damage from Elixir's side Aligned creatures and deal +10% damage to oppositely  Aligned creatures (this includes Vex damage enhancement). Currently these Elixirs try to be different, but they do the same thing basically - increase damage output. This suggestion allows Abigail to align with the chosen side to empower her offensive or defensive side depending on the foe she faces.

Strong Brew skill increases the effectiveness of all regular Elixirs instead of doubling 1 day Elixirs' duration, so...
Healing goes from 1 to 3 per second to 1 to 5 per second for Revenant Restorative and 20 per second to 30 per second for Spectral Cure-All.
Shielding goes from 0.5 to 1 seconds to 0.5 to 1.5 seconds for Unyielding Draught and reflected damage has 150% effectiveness for Distilled Vengeance.
Enhancing goes from 175% to 250% movement speed for Vigor Mortis and additional damage from 60 to 90 for Ethereal Brine.

What better time to propose such changes. Devs are already thinking about some changes in Wendy's kit :)

I tried to justify making both Essence Elixirs comparable to Spectral Cure-All. My idea was that Spectral Cure-All is 100% defensive, Distilled Vengeance is 50% offensive, 50% defensive and Ethereal Brine is 100% offensive. 75 damage going through the shield of Distilled Vengeance makes it cut around half of boss damage in most cases, hence the number, and for Ethereal Brine I was trying to make it strong to make it worth the risk of Abigail dying, but most players just wouldn't use it if it was a risky fight, so I'll adjust the number down to 50.

Patch notes: Ethereal Brine damage 60 -> 50 ;)

As for Lunar and Shadow Elixirs' numbers it's the same as side Affinity from character's skilltree.

With Strong Brew I went with 100% stronger effect for 1 day Elixirs and 50% stronger effect for Essence Elixirs, but I still thought 250% movement speed of Vigor Mortis would be ridiculous :D
