Electroely
To throw in my two cents here. I think the bionic duplicants are at a fine point in terms of difficulty. I don't consider myself a beginner at this game, but I'm definitely not an expert. I have been STRUGGLING with bionic duplicants on some of the planets in my Moonlet Cluster save. On the oil planetoid (which is my starting one) and the metallic swamp, I have a Petroleum Generator and Plug Slugs to provide the power needed to keep the duplicants going. Crude Oil and Slimy Meteor Showers are also great sources of lubricant, so that hasn't been a problem either. On the frozen forest planetoid, though, it's been a pain. There's no clean water around, and all the polluted water & brine around is extremely cold, so I need to use a liquid tepidizer and a water sieve/desalinator to warm up the water enough to purify it, which is a ton of power consumed. All that to use 200kg of water to clean 80kg of gunk into gear balm... Despite having 4 solar panels (which I thought would trivialize the power situation) I'm still constantly struggling. The duplicants spending half their time on the manual generator just to stay alive is not helping me make any progress towards fixing any of the other stuff going on... I thought it'd be easier to upkeep bionic duplicants on this planetoid, but since I got some pikeapple bush seeds from the Printing Pod I might just bring in standard duplicants to take over instead. The flipped asteroid has also been a struggle but not nearly as bad so far only because the core of the planetoid is full of coal deposits I can use to keep things going until I get some steam turbines up on the surface. All that to say that I think 200W is a fine amount of power consumption. Through the 4 or so separate worlds I've started in the beta so far, I've found that a constant 200W power consumption makes a big dent in my power supply, and it adds up easily with more bionic duplicants. dez3940
1 hour ago, SkunkMaster said: The electrolyzer to bionic dupes comparison is so bad. in the sense of conervation of energy, The electrolyzer actually "frees" potential energy out of the water. Technically speaking it is not a oxygen/hydrogen producer, but a water splitter. The oxygen/hydrogen comes from the splitting of the water, not the electrolyzer it self. Bionic dupes how ever do not split any products that could be argued as a "energy freeing process". They are what you would call consumers and as such should not be able to generate energy that exceeds the energy they require to operate. So in other words, a bionic dupe, with a power requirement of a measly 200w, running a hamster for 400w is silly. thats not how an electrolyzer works. it takes more energy to split water than can be generated from the products.its not releasing anything its breaking water molecules Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/161510-200w-per-second-is-too-tow/page/2/#findComment-1773237 Share on other sites
asurendra
Well, last update solve the problem. Decreased charging efficiency make actual requirement of eco power bank higher while not affecting early game. Perfect solution. Bravo, KLEI! Gurgel
I now have 300 cycles with 3 bionics on Oassisse (classic start). This was really hard to do until cycle 150 or so. I was lucky to find a cool slush geyser for some cooling and ramped up wood farming fast enough for energy generation. Dupes on a hamster-wheel simply do not cut it with rechargeable batteries on that planetoid and running out of metal ore is a real problem. With a 400W requirement, I do not think I would have made it on Oassisse. Even with 200W I had to reload older saves several times before cycle 50. Hence I think the 200W consumption is entirely fine and well chosen. Bionics come with far enough drawbacks to not make them overpowered in any way.
