If you think some skill tree is bad and OP, just don't learn it.

They nerfed it for being too op, and now nobody even crafts it anymore.

That just means Klei agreed with the people saying it was too op, and it definitely was too op. If you're talking about the beta shadow maul, the idea to nerf it was practically unanimous. There was no reason not to use it if it stayed how it was, you could tank bosses without wearing armor.

The point was not that they nerfed it, but was that they nerfed it too much. Now it can only deal 4 more damage than the scythe when reaching grade 3, and you have to keep it fed otherwise it goes back to grade 0, making it feels totally worthless crafting it.

Didn’t they remove it until a future update because anytime Wanda was eaten by it it completely crashed the game? Pretty sure they’re working on fixing that before bring it back.

Wanda had used time magic to remove giant worm into the future

Well I was simply stating why people would prefer buffs than nerfs. Besides, nerf doesn't always happen a item becomes too op, and neither the result of it is always satisfying. The shadow maul is an example. They nerfed it for being too op, and now nobody even crafts it anymore.

Ever used the maul, it's still pretty dang broken.

I don't need anything now, because i have my maul and 0 healing...

It's still too OP imo

You consider the curremt maul that at 0 grade which cannot provide healing is OP…? Sorry I just may haven't get what you mean…

They are saying the maul is fine and is still a little bit overpowered even after the nerf.

at max level is too strong.

And it's not hard to upgrade at all.

I dont get it, you mean that as long as something is common, it's bond to be right?

这句话看上去像是在反讽,有一种“双标就是社区交流的常见套路,你才知道吗?”的感觉。

Emm…Are u guys being sarcastic or something? Maul is obviously far from op even at grade3

nah, i'm not sarcastic.

I've played a lot with this weapon, and i mean a ton...

It's just the best weapon in the game, OP but balanced for all the effort. Before it was just an immortality weapon, now at least you can't face tank everything with no armor

I believe that OP means everything contrary to balanced… With all that effort paid to craft and upgrade the weapon, it only deals 4 more planar damage than the scythe, plus 3.4 healing each attack which is the half of the bat bat, and you need to kill things time to time to keep it from starving otherwise you'll still need to kill 9 bosses, the thing's just doesn't worth all those efforts

it is strong but i have seen multiple people not be able to figure out how to level it for long periods of time. often people have to be told what to do

Well...OK...Thank you, but we definitely don't think so.

if you unlock it that means you are good at the game... you should know it.

It's worth the effort imo.

People just complained because going from a 25 heal per hit to 3.4 is an 86% nerf, which is bit, but in this case it was totally needed.

The difference between Bat bat and the maul is that one is a support weapon which isn't easily farmed and the other is a main damaging weapon (the highest in the game not counting alarming clock) which can heal you, therefore not needing any healing food and it's easily repairable.

The healing from the maul is too low to replace healing items, you attack 10 times to gain 34 hp, which can be easily exceeded by simply eating a dumpling or a dragonfruit pie. And the damage is only 4 more than a shadow scythe which you can easily craft after the first shadow rift opens without a possessed shadow heart, which you must kill the shadow pieces first then feed it to a chest mimic then kill it. And then even you had it updated to level 3 you'll need to often feed it otherwise it would be starved to broken and return to level 0, which is rather annoying. All these makes it doesnt show much advantage than the scythe which is more easily obtained. I'd rather they just delete the healings and give it a bit more damage, maybe another 4 or 6 planar, and make it doesn't starve to degradation, or at least doesnt return to level 0 after broken.

The maul is a problematic item because the sanity drain now causes concern for future lunacy content. If they ever make bosses that have high positive sanity auras you can face-tank them and lose your sanity(which is what you want to do with lunacy) and heal at the same time. The healing is definitely overrated in my opinion, but the precedent it sets for possible future content is worrying.

It's not like they're many anyway lel. Only things I can actually think of giving sanity were CC and Scrappig's laser attack. Even the mutated trio do negative sanity auras.

the starvation mechanic is stupidly counterable after the buff it got.

Armors reduce a lot of damage, and combined with the maul you won't need any healing.

Maul OP is like the Weapon equivalent of Wortox OP. Healing IS powerful, but like, it's not that crazy.

The maul used to let you tank with no armour.

The subject of what I said is not "treats" but "once been given is taken away." Humanity get highly stress when they can no longer do things they once could do, so if you are forced to do that, it need enough reasons, data, and justification.

I'd not say refix Maul as the previous level, but the current Maul has gone from too strong extreme to too weak extreme.
