The Wendy Effect - A documented observation

I feel like we're getting to the point where more people are psychoanalyzing people who play Wendy & her overall strength than giving feedback to her skill tree.

Well, people probably ran out of ideas to suggest due to the wait for the next beta update. It's a bit hard to give more suggestions without knowing what the devs will do next, I think.

That is if you dont count Wes, I presume?

It's only counting the characters that Quakesz tried when preparing for the tournament... Considering that, I'd say it's quite likely that the vast majority of characters weren't taken into account at all.

I can't imagine anyone even considering Wes, Wilson or Wurt for this tournament, for example... And there are probably plenty of others that were instantly written off too.

That's probably true.

Tbh though, most of the survivors that were originally weaker than Wendy have leapt past her thanks to skill trees. I feel like at this point the only survivors around her power level are like... Wilson, Warly and Webber.

Wally is actually a very interesting character, and I can't wait for the chef to unlock more recipes.:wilson_love::wilson_love:

So, to prove that Wendy effect is real:

Tell me the last time you had such a nice message pop up on any mailbox on any forum

Thank you so much for your kind reply and for including my response in your post. It truly means a lot!

Affection for Wendy is more than just a preference—it's something deeply personal, and I believe it resonates with many others in the same way. Your post does an amazing job of highlighting not just the character but also the connection her players feel toward her.

And yes, being a Wendy player is absolutely a way of life! Thank you again for bringing attention to Wendy and her unique charm.

That is part of "wendy is strong" part of the list of effects

If wendy wasn't as strong, more experienced Spike players would've gravitated to other characters by now

For reference, Quakeszzzz won the most recent Don Giani speedrun tournament with Wendy

(highly recommend watching the run)

tl;dr: Wendy won a day 15 boss rush speedrun tournament vs Wigfrid, Woodie and Maxwell

Is this evaluation somewhat inconsistent with the real situation? I think modifications should be made instead of keeping the original.
In the comment section behind your post, there is a review from the player Wendy in the video, which sounds like Wendy is just a stronger character than Wes, and he doesn't want to play Wes. He even feels that Wendy has a burden that other characters don't have (protecting Abigail), proving that Wendy is a challenging "difficult" character like Wes. That's why Wendy is used, not because Wendy is stronger than other popular characters, right; (

Perfect interpretation.
Wendy almost perfectly possesses the characteristics that players love.
She accompanied the players for a very long time, starting from when they could only play alone.
This character is portrayed very well, with abilities, lines, and image.
The characters that can also be remembered by people all the time may be Wolfgang because he is too powerful (twice as powerful), Maxwell because his health can be used as a unit of measurement (the attack power of Cyclops=1 Maxwell) and become a joke, Wanda may be because of his unique mechanism (of course, it may also be because of the Glass Cannon)
Wendy seems more like a real person.

Wilson ill give you is weaker, but i was largely referring to Wendy prior her skill tree. Webber has nurse spiders and warly has ways to boos his damage immensly.

Either way my point was more that prior to skill yrees she was probably in the bottom half of survivors

Happy new years everyone

So, how is the pulse on the Wendy players?

Are they enjoying the changes so far?

A lot of work seems to have been put in the Wendy tree so far.

To add more to this thread as evidence of this effect, the most watched Klei video is the legendary Wendy one
