Perk that lets Abigail potions also buff Wendy

Recommended Posts

Most people have already suggested that Wendy get a perk that lets her apply 2 potions at once to Abigail, and I also like that idea but I wanted to suggest an alternative for the current underwhelming duration skill. A skill point that makes it so applying a potion to Abby also gives Wendy a weaker version for the same duration, for example:

Revenant Restorative: 1 hp per 1 second

Spectral Cure-All: flat 40hp heal

Unyielding Draught: damage mitigation similar to Wigfrid

Distilled Vengeance: damage mitigation and 10 damage reflection

Nightshade Nostrum: remove Wendy's damage penalty

Vigor Mortis: 10% speed boost

Some of the less useful potions on Abby would be more helpful if Wendy could also use them such as Vigor Mortis and Revenant Restorative. These would make the potion duration skills more helpful for everday use of potions instead of just boss fights and would encourage you to play more as Wendy and less as the beefalo.

aaaaaa that's really cool! I'd love that! ( especially the speed boost XD ) but I think it would work better if Wendy had to drink the potions herself rather than it applying to Abigail. ( sure, it would cost more potions, but I think a small buff to some of what you said could do the trick for balancing it, like making the speed boost apply to 'work' tasks for example ) I think the damage penalty reduction shouldn't stack with abigail's damage increase tho, as that kinda stuff gets real broken reaaal fast o .o

I've been thinking about this idea but instead of buffing wendy directly, when wendy drinks the potions they affect her relationship with her sister in some way. Though so far I haven't thought of anything interesting.

Wendy and Abigail act as two different entities and other than the hex there isn't much in the way of meaningful interaction between the two.

They still cost morning glories to craft and if it's an effect you want often on Wendy, you will be going through them a lot faster, compared to currently where potions are mostly only used for occasional boss fights. You can still only use one potion at a time so you need to choose between effects that are more useful on Wendy vs Abby for a given situation.

Example: Speed boost is wanted on every character all the time but speed on Abby is nearly worthless. Spectral Cure-All is the best potion for keeping Abby alive but is just a bite of pierogi for Wendy, a good heal but nothing special.

The exact numbers can also be tweaked.

oh great.

let that CHILD take drugs...

at least Aby's a ghost...

(to be clear i like the idea lol, but i will chide the people that use just vigor morits for the speed)

It's an improvement compared to never being used at all lol.

I’m not so sure about that.. WX78 exists as a “whatever I feel like being at the time” type of character.

And it’s no secret that I use to heavily play SMITE, some of my favorite characters in that game were NuWa, The Morrigan, & Hel or: TL:DR  characters who could switch their roles or “copy” other characters to use their perks.

WX78 is probably the closest we have to anything like that in DST, you can build him up the way you want to build him up with your given circuit slots he was the skill tree before we got a skill tree.

Wendy being able to chug down Abby’s Elixers would make for an interesting Dynamic, And it would even give us a twisted slightly Nerfed version of players wanting to be able to use two potions at once.

But I think it would be funny if Wendy could gain Abby’s protective shielding bubble or whatever.

If anything: It’s a cool concept to play around with in mods…

But I always wanted atleast the Vigor Mortis potion to be useable by characters as speed boost.. it’s pretty useless if they have to be dead to use them and dropping them on the ground to make trails of potions dead players can haunt to speed up their dead ghosts movement back to the florid to respawn is kinda..

lame? It clutters the world with trails of potions  and in this new age of powerful reworks and skill trees it feels like an Outdated Concept in need of refining.

However- I’m not so sure letting Wendy chug down potions is a good idea.. (even if she had a delayed lengthy drinking animation for balance purposes) because the entire concept behind Wendy is Use Abigail to help her.

I could totally see some players ditching Abby at the new skill tree anchoring stations and then just going all “Potions Brewery Class” on Wendy.

But then again… that might actually be “fun” if the draw back was you had to Anchor and Ditch Abby for a bit.

Yeah, it looks like we both had a very similar idea. I could see these effects requiring the flower shroud, although personally I think giving Abby armour is already powerful enough on its own. I don't know why you wouldnt already wear the flower shroud for ever serious combat encounter.

As for my examples, they are only place holders, I'm open to tweaking their numbers or effects. I was also conflicted on the Nightshade turning off Wendy's downside, but I wasn't sure if using a perk and an item to tempprarily become Wilson was really that concerning. Especially when it does nothing to improve Abby's surviveability and she'll just die during a boss fight unless you use another potion to save her or are very good at keeping her alive.

The Vigor could also be made stronger, I kept it small because I envisioned it similar to coffee from SW or Wormwood's growth formula. Something you chug on the daily to be faster doing everyday travel, it's basically useless on Abby so I dont see it being used during boss fights except maybe doing shadow pieces earlier.

- Nightshade Nostrom: I'm not a fan of nullifying her only downside personally, though I guess it's something you'd need to craft often if you'd want to use it frequently.

- Vigor Mortis: Only 10%? I feel like that'd be barely noticeable or impactful, in my opinion.

Also, should it be balanced by making it so that you need to be wearing the floral shroud as well, or is the fact that you need to craft them often balanced enough? Even if it's the latter, I think giving more incentive to wear it outside its main purpose could be neat, possibly in the form of it granting Wendy abilities similar to the currently active elixir; in fact, I made a post of my own discussing this theoretical skill:

Floral Shroud no longer exists.

But if Wendy gets the ability to drink Abigail’s potions it should be properly balanced by two things..

#1 a slightly lengthy animation of chugging the potion down.

#2 Abigail gives her sad puppy dog eyes whenever Wendy tries to drink a potion meant for Abigail, so Wendy has to “hitch” Abigail to a Sisturn and abandon her for a bit so she won’t feel so guilty drinking the ghostly Elixers her dead sister enjoys drinking.

I mean imagine those yummy ghost Elixers being the only joy you have left in the after life, and your still living sister who literally has her whole life still ahead of her selfishly gulps them down in front of you..?! :(
