My ideas for tweaks for the Wortox skill tree

Below you will find tweak ideas I've gotten after testing out wortox's skilltree, most skills will be changed, and some will include a reason as to why I feel the change is needed.

 

Neutral :

Impromptu Flutist :  Remove the timer after inspired - it's already a niche skill on a niche item that is rarely accessible or worth carrying with you.

Pleasant Pastorale : Instead of longer sleep, make it so mobs after waking up move 50% slower for 8-12 seconds - you usually sleep mobs to stop aggro/reset states so rarely do you need that sleep time.

Cloudy Carmen : Can now only be picked if Pleasant Pastorale was picked, makes mobs deal 25% less damage for 20 seconds after waking up - Not being aggroed is interesting but rarely applicable sadly


Nice : 

Lifebringer 1 : If nice aligned, remove respawn hp penalty. Rest stays as is.

Lifebringer 2 : Empower revived allies to have 30 seconds of slowly ticking health regeneration (same tick speed as jellybeans) - remove the extra sanity gained

Lifebringer 3 : Keep as is.

Reaching Souls 1 : Increase distance further (3.5), this will help in big group fights but the base increase to 2.75 feels a tad low.

Reaching Souls 2 : Keep as it is

Soul Bastion 1 : Make the soul effectiveness of the 2nd hit be 50% instead of 25%

Soul Bastion 2 : Make the range 5 tiles instead of 3.5.

Lifted Spirits : 10% feel negligeable for a movement focused character like Wortox - Should be at least 15-20% in order to feel an impact and change from the usual soul hop spam, especially with a skill later

Lifted Spirits 2 : Make it be 10 seconds - it will help with the alignments to be more useful in combat 

Reverberation : Keep as is.

Capricious Movement : Bugged, but told to be fixed, will probably be all good.


Naughty : 

Knabsacker 1 : Make minimum damage 27.2 (from 13.6) and make max inventory ramp up 51 (from 34) - it just feels too weak for now

Soul Jar : Really good as it is, I wish it produced a soul every 2-3 minutes passively < more of a personal request

Overflowing Greed : Change the max to 3 soul jars, meaning a jar gives 3.33 (3) souls, for the same max of +10, simply having less jars overall - carrying so many jars will be... jarring, and feels a bit too gimmicky to be worthy of 5 inventory slots normally, and a wortox player will almost never be seen needing more than 120 + base amount of souls at once easily

Covetous Collector : Change max to 3 soul jars, keep the damage ramp up as is (+34 total) - same justification as above

Soul thief 1 : Increase the timer before a soul disappears by 15 seconds, increase attraction by 2 tiles (instead of 1) and soul time when attracted will be 2 seconds longer 

Soul thief 2 : Overflowing on souls will not cause you to overload and you will instead have a 5 seconds window to react by using a soul (if the overflow is more than +1 of max then normal overload will happen) - The former skill was merged and this one will help in fights where a lot of souls are being exchanged 

Soul Pierce 1 : Souls will bounce between two enemies when generated (if any are nearby) and deal 25 damage per hit before going towards Wortox, Knabsack will increase the damage further up to 50% of it's own damage

Soul Pierce 2 : Souls will now bounce an extra time, add 10 neutral planar damage to every bounce if wortox has any pure essence and knabsack in inventory

Soul Decoy 1 : Make the decoy duration last 4 seconds (from 2) and increase detection to 3 tiles (from 2)

Soul Decoy 2 : Decoy now lasts until you soul hop again (or move at least 5 tiles away) if not attacked by an enemy

Soul Decoy 3 : Increase damage radius to 1.5 tiles (from 1), increase damage dealt by explosion to 34 damage (increased by 50% of knabsack damage)


Affinities :

Lunar Swindler/ Shadow harvester : Add the ability to automatically echo souls by the press of a toggle on the hud somewhere, those souls will not yield any other effects than the buffs applied by those perks (soul hopping will still cause echo to happen as normal, this is just a QOL idea)

 

Thank you for reading, I hope our silly goat gets some extra love, I quite like the bases of it and the design is probably the best in the whole game.

Yeah affinities will probably need a touch up but I don't have a proper idea for them yet, I sort of wanted to address essentially everything else kek

its a bit odd to intentionally avoid your souls but its interesting at least, bouncing is the only way ive found to make it good without it being a chore to use

Maybe that's it. It feels like a lot of it is going to be a chore. The inventory, balancing between the perks, lining everything up, bringing bugs to get the AOE, way more soul farming, the non controllable, limited use perk for the panflute making you need to reconstruct it still and keeping it in a bundle wrap so you have it on you when you need it, but you don't waste the limited use of the free interaction when there's no mobs or easy mobs around you. It feels like a lot of hassle when you could just bring a dark sword with you.

The whole "sack quest" is very lackluster so yeah I really hope they make it easier/more rewarding later

Wortox is one of my favorite characters, but this skill tree is awful for him

A ton of incredibly niche skills, and two horrendous affinity skills. 

The taunting echo and the healing stuff is kinda cool. 

But the rest of the skill tree makes me not even want to play him. 

Seems like Walter won the skill tree lottery for this patch

 

Wendy's kinda stinks but she's already one of the most OP characters in the game. 

Wortox just needs a massive rework. Completely change both his affinities, and combine some of the bizarre niche skills

Is it just me, or is Wortox's entire Nice tree basically terrible? The early ones are just trying to be worse Wanda. None of that is of any use when other players aren't around. You're just wasting points to get the "decent" stuff.

Naughty gets all the good stuff that lets you carry all the extra souls, create decoys, etc. (Edit: The damage seems undertuned for the inventory cost, though.) Neutral has basically nothing.

Additionally for the wortox skilltree they gota enable "siphon" mechanic in the jar so it will automaticly just add them into your inventory after you use them or wait till they all disappear and them give you like 10 or 5 which can be toggleable 
the bag needs some adjustemnts, I agree with everything you've said

Shoving all the new ammo types into skills wasn't great. The old special ammo seems to just be forgotten. Honey rounds cause slow? Didn't he have something for that?

I'm not saying Walters skill tree is fantastic 

But Wortox and Wendy's both kind of suck 

Walters makes him much easier, more approachable, and fun to play. It lacks imagination for sure, and currently has a ton of bloat. 

But it succeeds at the most important component. It makes a character that absolutely sucks fun to play. 

Yes Walter had an ammo that required purple gems and moon rocks that caused slow. I'd assume anyone who plays the character will be much happier to have an ammo that causes slow that can be made with honey

That could help for chain hopping I like that

Soul overload being on a timer would be a great perk, or even just base kit.

I dont agree with the entire Naughty tree being based on the knabsack and filled jars. Really seems strange to have this mechanic for the entire tree, then have shadow affinity make you abandon the knapsack for the reaper.

I had that idea as well (minus sanity cost) but it felt 'too good' but i'd gladly take that anyday
