Excluido
I was planning to make a bammoth farm in my colony and I was going to use spigot seals + bonbon trees to produce ethanol and I decided to solve the issue of the sustainability of ice production. Knowing that water is an infinite resource, I tested the ice maker for the first time and saw that it was very limited. It is not possible to deliver water to it without a duplicant manually delivering bottles and it does not have a liquid entry, this could be improved. I thought that now that the new update will bring the Bottle Filler, the Auto Sweepers could interact with both structures and deliver the water. The need for a duplicant could even be replaced by a lever or activation button on the structure. In addition, the ice maker Database is very empty. There is no information on the conversion of resources (60kg water to 60kg snow/ice at -20 celsius). It would also be interesting if klei adjusted the structures that interact with ice to accept all types (ice, polluted ice, brine ice, snow) like the ice maker itself and the ice liquefier. These are just a few things I've noticed now that could use some polishing. I'm very grateful for the work of Klei and the devs for making this game more fun and especially for adding a new hat for the pyrotechnics skill that I had written about a while ago when it was needed :D Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/160706-ice-maker-needs-improvements-other-qol/ Share on other sites
SilverSpoon
Or increase the threshold for liquid water to turn into rubble instead of tiles when it solidifies (= prevent the mass from being halved by mining tiles). Additionally, add a recipe to turn ice into snow to the Rock Crusher. I think it would better if there was a choice between that requires work but is easy to set up, or that requires additional resources and design but can be automated. Gurgel
You can make ice in other ways. One is cooling down pipes with less than 1kg/sec. Careful with this though, the liquid vent can be entombed in a 1 kg block of ice if you save and load on the wrong tick. For 0.2 seconds out of every second, the liquid is stored in the vent, and if you save when the water is stored in the vent, it will form a tile over the vent on load. For a while, it should melt due to contact with the warm vent, but it will eventually break if you save and load too many times. Autosaves are on safe ticks. Plus, this has the downside of not being able to make snow. Sure. My remark was not intended to be a complete instruction on how to do it. Obviously, you place an auto-miner next to it. Usually not needed, but block-forming is always a concern with any liquid cooled below its condensation point. I run into it frequently with my volcano-tamers.
