Inks spawn mechanic is bland

Recommended Posts

Needing to go out of our way to spot a fissure and fight them is really artificial and makes farming the shadow materials a chore.

Needing to wait for the timer so they respawn

Looking for a fissure

Just one encounter every some days

Just 1 fissure affected per respawn so you can simply ignore them or not finding them if you missed the fissure

Makes no sense to rotate between the chees trio and the snakes. Some players might only experience one kind if thr rng triggers only one kind over and over

The snake trio being part of the fissure spawn mechanic is a waste of potential. They could spawn on the player with low sanity since the stealth atack would be an awesome insanity status. This way insanity gets a new cool mechanic and encounter while players can farm rift materials without being slaves of the repetitive "coming back to a fissure every X days" mechanic

this also happens with the rift's mobs and the miasma mechanic.. the player only experience it if they are really in need of pure horror

Ickers, Brighshades, possesed bosses and the new lurking shadow have way better spawn mechanics. They feel natural and fitting

I don't know how you get these ideas to make DST like 10 times harder for no reason.

Ink blights spawning on player? Rictus spawning on player when you can't reveal it without using aoe effect?

I do agree that ink blights cooldown should be shorter but they should still be locked to fissures.

Brightshades spawning mechanic is bad, so many players complained about them so to this day we still abuse their spawning logic and plant in 4 corners to have a brightshade spawn so we can have a safe spot in the middle and plant dragon fruit at Dragonfly lava ponds.

We were told that brightshades wouldn't be so overwhelming once more rift mobs were introduced but not much has changed since their release.

you cant heat yourself without an item with heating effect, you cant dry youseself without an item with water resistence effect, etc

so fun! an easy bland optional encounter that you need to waste time going out of your way to experince. And the best part, only 50% of chances of getting one of the 2 fights avaraible

people complained because was repetitive, to overwhelming because they spawn non stop and because punished using berry bushes as decor. There were very little casuals complaining because they didnt wanted to fight a stationary boss in their food farms

and that was the problem but the mechanic itself was good and natural instead of a single fissure being affect in an empty place that the player needs to visit in order to fight small mobs (well, "fight"...because you can stan still holding F with a BS staff, peak gameplay for casuals i guess)

These are seasonal mechanics, I don't need thermal stone in autumn, spring besides maybe first few days or summer in caves.

It can't be compared to nightmares that will always spawn on player based on a stat that they have to manage all the time.

Almost everything needs to be optional so that more content can be added to the game, you can't overwhelm the player with new additions that keep attacking them or at some point DST would be a game that puts  you on a timer for how long you can hold on.

We aren't playing vampire survivors but DST.

A lot of my friends and me included have moved to cave basing because of brightshades, fire hounds, wildfires. To be fair I play half the time with wildfires off. We already got a worm boss in this update that is very destructive and damaging, we don't need ink blights to spawn near player too.

How would ink blights be any different? It would be even more difficult and annoying because they aren't stationary and you can't ignore rictus. Brightshades are so repetitive and it really gets boring to deal with them all the time and the same would be for anything that comes to player on a regular basis, we have deerclops, bearger and antlion earthquakes but this is once a year so it isn't a problem but ink blights would spawn much more often.

The problem was that it was endless waves of brightshades spawning. If they only spawned in spring and at max like 15-20 brightshades every year no one would complain. The issue is that we wouldn't get enough husks at that point but that is more of a problem that we don't have more mobs spawning from rifts and not every mob should be as annoying to deal with.

I have never used brightshade staff to kill brightshades because that is a waste of pure brilliance, I guess now it isn't that big of a deal since we can have as much as we like with wickerbottom and Wilson.
