My concerns about the cave update. (feel free to sugest!)

Oh boy.... this beta really came up to shake things up ain't it?

Expectation: CAVE UPDATE! So many possibilities , so many things to improve, and rift interactions, etc. 

Reality:  CHAOS. 

Wow, ok so this was a very hectic beta start. the new added stuff looks so great , i didn't expect beefalos to get some love on this update , new tools and mobs so far . they look amazing.

 

However...

 

I think we are missing the main focus and main issue of the caves themselves...caves are vackluster of content and novelties. I can think of many points that could be taken into consideration for a real cave update to be succesful, (prob you'll see this points many times on different threads lol):

- Biomes : we can all agree we need an overhaul on the existing non used biomes we got so far , giving them a purpose , at least a small one. Guano biome is the one with the most need of a purpose lol, or maybe like the mushtree mosaic, or even the rocky (lobster) biome 

- Bosses: the new worm boss looks amazing! and i really thought it would be a new raid kind of boss , sadly it'll be locked and have the same treatment as the varglet , just a lategame alternative of bigger waves. cave really needs at least 2 new bosses , either by season , nightmare cycle , or even biome related. A quick draft could be a bat boss, dreadstone lobster, a mushtreeguard , the wormboss being a biome thing that would also delay worm waves since their "leader" is dead. (also ... i saw it drops bone shards... could we get a slim chance of it dropping a single fossil piece to finally make them renewable)

 

Voidwalking/bridges : 24 grass and 16 logs for a single bridge piece is not resource friendly XD. I like the concept of the hanging temporary bridge , but being just locked to 3 tiles long doesn't seem like a good workaround for voidwalking , if anything feels like a big downgrade . but i'm pretty sure there's more to discuss and time to make them work and get an even ground for both you (klei) and us players. maybe just like with pillars we coudl work on an upgraded version of it that has no limit on the amount of tiles but at the cost of a different material. (PLS don't make it dreadstone ) 

 

I'd enter on detail on the saddles but i'll leave it for a different discussion to not flood this thread with other topics

This is the start of the new beta , many things are (hopefully) subject to change. So let's keep it friendly and constructive to klei :D

it is to be expected to be chaos and discomfort about it , we got controversial changes , btu hey it's the first draft , let's wait for the hotfixes to see how it changes . (hopefully it has a positive change and people gets a bit more satisfied or at least a middle ground XD)
