About the spawn of malbatros...

Recently I came across a video of @JazzyGames in which he was unhappy with the mechanics of spawn malbatross in dst and hoped for its changes in the next Qol update of the ocean, which is currently out. So that you understand, after increasing its spawn in the update, I tried 7 times to spawn it before it appears on its own. He really got an increased chance of appearing both by himself and from spinning if someone decides to catch him through it anyway. Advice to players with spinning, do not catch fish right away, leave the opportunity for them to bite the catch so that it starts to resist, and does not immediately get on your raft.

How come? Doesn't Malbatross spawning event get triggered by fish hooked anyway? Why should it matter if you catch it right away or reel it for longer?

I can't say for sure, but in my experience, an malbatross has seen me fishing only if I catch a fish and start fishing

Whenever a fish bites your line, you click to "hook" it and then start reeling it in until you can catch it. However, if a fish bites while RIGHT directly beside your boat, the prompt will be to instantly catch it, without needing to reel it in because it's already so close. Since the Malbatross spawning checks for when you hook a fish, if you never actually hook them and instead JUST catch them without needing to reel, it won't roll the chance since you skipped the hooking step by the game's standards.

Thanks. This explains how I was able to not spawn one after catching 160 deep sea bass across 5 Malbatross shoals in one of my Wigfrid runs. I fully fished out every shoal multiple times and spent almost the entire 2nd autumn and almost the whole winter trying to spawn one. It spawned after I caught fish #162. All for a fight that lasted 30 seconds. Turns out I was just too efficient at catching fish (I almost never let it fight and catch it with one click). Never thought this method would backfire on me. It's ridiculous.
