BabaFisi
So, I decided to do my 3rd Wormwood playthrough. And this time, I decided to take Lunar Cultivator 3, and something about the Saladmanders doesn’t make sense to me… Why don’t they deal Planar Damage? Lunar Cultivator is only accessable after CC, and most affinity skills will usually have some sort of Planar mechanic tied to it, and yet none of the Lunar Cultivator skills have it. Sure, they give Wormwood his Lunar Affinity all the same, but this only helps for Shadow Aligned mobs. This basically forces you to take Lunar Guardian if you want something more Combat centric/wanted something for anything other than Alignment mobs. So here’s my suggestion for how they could be improved: Everyone already makes the joke of “Saladmanders are just Wormwood’s version of Charmander, from Pokemon” Yet Wormwood’s Saladmanders lack the ability to go into the Ripened state that normal Saladmanders can. So why don’t we just turn Wormwood’s Saladmanders into ACTUAL Charmanders? I suggest that Lunar Guardian 3 gives you the ability to toss Bath Bombs onto your Saladmanders, increasing their health to 900 (and 1200 if both are out). They would gain some planar defense, and do +20 Planar damage, for a total of 60 per bite. Along with this, ever 4-5 bites, they would do a Fire Spit attack, which would deal 35 physical and planar damage (70 total), and would burn the target for a short while, with the same Burning effect as Willow, where the fire doesn’t spread. (Edit: the increased health is supposed to make it so the two don’t get instantly annihilated by anything with AOE. Maybe also make a mechanic where their damage is further reduced if they both get hit at the same time?) Not only would this encourage players to start planting Lune Trees on the mainland to get Bath Bombs, but would also allow Wormwood players (preferably newer ones) to take a safer approach to combat, and wouldn’t force them to take Lunar Guardian skills if they wanted to protect themselves/deal more damage. Edit: Some extra stuff, Maybe make some new examination quotes for the crafted Saladmanders. Like Willow saying “I never thought Wormwood had the guts for fiery things!” Or something. Another thing I thought of was that outside of combat, if your Saladmanders were out and about, they would start playfully fighting each other, kinda like how the regular Saladmanders do, but instead of fighting over Hot Springs, they’re just doing it for fun. It would add a lot of character into something really small, I think. Thanks for Reading! I'll do both: I've already made posts about Lunar Cultivator I effectively just being a worse Lazy Forager, and how the Carrats should help out with farming more, like watering your crops or fertilizing them. Bulbous Lightbugs, I think, kinda look like those weird ring halo things on biblically accurate angels, so here's my idea for them: While wearing the Brightshade Helm/Celestial Crown, the Bulbous Lightbugs gain WAY more health, and Planar Defense. Along with this, they also will draw in aggro, meaning that they act sort of like a shield, allowing Wormwood to attack them while they're distracted. Maybe not a perfect concept, but it's something. (Also, combining Lunar Cultivator II and III would be nice) I can't think of anything else, really for other summons. Maxwell, I don't think needs a skilltree (How can you improve perfection?) So my idea is that Maxwell, by default, has shadow affinity. Along with this, his Shadow Duelists would gain Planar Damage and Planar Defense specifically while Maxwell has the Void Cowl, Robe, or Shadow Reaper equipped. I haven't played Wendy enough to come up with a planar/skilltree mechanic for Abigail, so IDK. I'd probably have it so that Wicker can make an upgrade to the Bee Box, and the Grumble Bees she spawns would make Royal Jelly upon filling the box to its full capacity. It would only ever be 1 Royal Jelly per box, and it would take much longer to fill than a regular Bee Box. I think also making the Grumble Bees enter their Rush mode, where they start bolting it towards you during the Bee Queen fight, could be cool. And one final thing: Change it so that Wicker's Grumble Bees are different from Bee Queen's, because even though it's funny to see all your Grumble Bees turn against you, it could be annoying for other players. Or maybe, you could add a stagger mechanic specifically with Wickerbottom, where you and the Bee Queen try to take control of each other's Grumble Bees, and doing this enough would cause the Bee Queen to become Staggered, allowing for easy damage.
