The deerclops thingamabob should freeze water, giving it a unique utility for ALL types of water, while docks can only be placed on coastal waters. (Will not freeze something if theres an object on the tile, placing it on a boat will simply make it stuck in the middle of a radius.) the possible op nature of it fits as an endgame item, probably.
