Updating Walter to fit with modern dst

With the current state of character abilities I figure I'd take another shot at fixing Walter using the game's current power level for reference as well as the fact Walter's ranged combat has been powercrept but Willow who is ironically much better at it than him.

Base kit changes 

  1. Slingshot ammo will now give 30 rounds per craft
  2. Pebbles will now stun small creatures
  3. Slowdown rounds will now decrease a target's movement speed by 50%
  4. Cursed rounds will no longer need a ancient pseudoscience station to craft
  5. Cursed round's will now instead fire shadow orbs at enemies shortly after they are hit instead of making shadow tentacles
  6. Woby will no longer lose speed when hungry
  7. Walter can now access Woby's storage and feed Woby while mounted
  8. Woby will now have a visible hunger meter
  9. Walter's campfire stories now recover a additional 30 sanity if the story is completed

Skill Tree changes

  1. Slingshot ammo will give 50 rounds per craft
  2. Slingshot ammo stacks to 200 this can be across multiple skills but this will help with bringing the slingshot up to normal weapon standards and help with the clutter it brings
  3. Shots will bounce between nearby enemies up to 6 times
  4. Walter can attack with melee weapons while mounted on Woby
  5. Woby will no longer buck Walter but instead loses hunger when hit the damage will consider damage reduction from armor. Walter Will also take 20% less damage while on Woby
  6. Woby moves 20% faster
  7. Big Woby can now dig
  8. Woby can now be ordered to grab items in the area that are in her backpack
  9. Walter's tent is upgraded to a first aid tent roll and now restores max hp and can be used during the day as well.
  10. If a Walter campfire story if completed gives a additional 5 sanity per minute for the next 8 minutes this does not stack

I thought about coming up with new round types but I'll leave that to more creative folks this time.

A coulple of ideas of my own that I've been mulling over: 

  • I agree with ammo amount crafted and stacking. I would prefer basekit changes, but it wouldn' surprise me if it was tied to skills. Crafting a larger amount of ammo with the same amount of resources might make the special rounds more worthwhile.
  • I can imagine some special storage item specifically for slingshot ammo to condence his ammo down more. Some 4 slot bag that only stores ammo, like a quiver but for the slingshot.
  • I think they'll introduce a new slingshot craft, probably one that takes higher tier materials, could have it give ammo loaded into it a buffing modifier, like 1.2x damage or something.
     
  • It would be silly if they didn't include skills that modify wobby. Your ideas seem pretty on par.
     
  • I imagine theyre could be a generic scout skilltree, maybe Walter finishes tracks in half the investigations to find the animal, or buffing merit badges that he could craft out of boss drops to give himself permanent buffs in exchange for the milestones of doing signifigant objectives on a world. Like some kinda quest system on a world by world basis. I could also imagine stuff like, a Crabby Hermit Merit Badge for maxing friendship, maybe a merit badge for having a number of unique creatures following you, like glommer, chester, wobby, friendly fruit fly, ect.
