SuperheroHill
Hi! I've recently started playing DST solo and I'm really enjoying it. I recently started playing the Beta branch because I really wanted to try the Winona updates and I was wondering, is there any reason NOT to just stick with the Beta, even after the new release Thursday? Some mods that I think should definitely be features included in the main version: Snapping Tills - Without it trying to till the soil seemed quite frustrating Craft Pot - Super helpful to see what will be created! Backpack slot - One of my biggest frustrations is putting down the backpack when I'm trying to put on armor. Bigger Stacks - Especially for wood. A lot of the frustration of the game to me is trying to manage inventory in the middle of a battle, especially if there is a creature that is trying to eat the spoils. Maybe stackable equipment too. Is there any easy way to adjust this? Crafting from chest - Makes crafting a lot easier!! Also a way to sort chests would be really nice Waypoint - being able to make notes on the map is really nice, like in Valheim Wormhole Marks - It helps so much seeing where wormholes go Combine Status - Seems like that's a no question Display Attack Range is nice!! But maybe not completely necessary Geometric Placement has been really nice too but maybe it is just me but I've been having trouble with fences I welcome mod suggestions too!! And suggestions in general. I still have so much to learn. I still need to learn about the rest of Winona's tree, I'm not sure what people are talking about with Winbot and such but hopefully soon. I'm about 54 days in with her. Thank you so much for your time and I hope you have a great every day!! - Mike Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/157472-newbie-question-qol-feedback/ Share on other sites

These two would probably be the only ones to never make their way into the game as inventory management is the point however there are various ways to expand your storage you'll get access to as you learn more about the game such as bigger backpacks and alternative storage methods there's also always the option to pick a character who has more storage options by default like Walter or Maxwell. As for equipment I don't believe there exists a mod that allows you to stack them because the game needs to keep track of how much durability is left on your armor. As for mod suggestions if you play with other players some useful commonly used ones are status announcements and enviromental pinger. Auto rower is also useful if you don't plan to use sails when at sea. SuperheroHill
Thank you for the suggestions!! Also when I try to make the Inspectacles she starts to make it and then says "I can't make that" or something similar. Do I need something beyond an Alchemy Engine? I don't see any information of what could be wrong since I have the materials to make it. As someone said, theres the cook book already 7 hours ago, SuperheroHill said: Backpack slot - One of my biggest frustrations is putting down the backpack when I'm trying to put on armor. Doubt this gonna happen, but in the mean time you can always use chester/woby/Maxwells hat or simply try to be efficient with inventory carrying the minimum or drop the backpack to put armor 7 hours ago, SuperheroHill said: Bigger Stacks - Especially for wood. Is there any easy way to adjust this? The elasticspacer is the closest thing we get to this but its chest only 7 hours ago, SuperheroHill said: Crafting from chest - Makes crafting a lot easier!! Also a way to sort chests would be really nice Already in the game! 7 hours ago, SuperheroHill said: Waypoint - being able to make notes on the map is really nice, like in Valheim This would be cool ngl, people use items/structures that leave an icon in the map for similar effects 7 hours ago, SuperheroHill said: Wormhole Marks - It helps so much seeing where wormholes go Kinda need to grind, but the wormholes skins serve this purpose just right! 7 hours ago, SuperheroHill said: Combine Status - Seems like that's a no question Should be base game fr 7 hours ago, SuperheroHill said: Geometric Placement has been really nice too but maybe it is just me but I've been having trouble with fences I wish this was implemented as well tbh, it can also help with tilling. Hope this helps you! Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/157472-newbie-question-qol-feedback/#findComment-1728696 Share on other sites

I agree. 7 hours ago, SuperheroHill said: Craft Pot - Super helpful to see what will be created! Is there any easy way to adjust this? There's a certain level of trial, error and memorization when it comes to the game. Knowing what to cook, knowing what doesn't fit and every single thing around that is just the game. The other day, I accidentally turned my royal jelly into jelly salad because I cooked 1 royal jelly with 3 leafy meats. That's a huge blunder and what's worse is that I have 5500 hours logged. With the backpack slot and bigger stacks, it's about planning your battles and inventory to suit the situation. You're new. You'll get the hang of it with time. Handling logistics is part of the game and you'll get better at it, believe me. 7 hours ago, SuperheroHill said: Crafting from chest - Makes crafting a lot easier!! Also a way to sort chests would be really nice Waypoint - being able to make notes on the map is really nice, like in Valheim Wormhole Marks - It helps so much seeing where wormholes go You can already craft from an open chest. I do this all the time. I think waypoints would also be nice. As for wormhole marks, I personally use a mod for it. For the map in general, I've made a suggestion before that there should be an item introduced to allow you to write on the map. Assuming that a map is something that your character in game carries around with them, it's natural to be able to highlight landmarks in an obvious way. 7 hours ago, SuperheroHill said: Combine Status - Seems like that's a no question Display Attack Range is nice!! But maybe not completely necessary Combine status is another mod, but also it's something that kind of kills the spirit for new players. Attack range is something that you'll learn with time imo. I think anyone can do it, if they apply themselves. The point of the crockpot not showing what food is made is that it encourages experimentation, but the cookbook can help make foods you've discovered once you've made it. The backpack is about sacrificing chest armor for extra storage, so i reccommend sticking with that. Bigger stacks are also about inventory. In general i think cooking needs an overhaul, since its kinda boring despite the cool looking foods. Have fun playing dst solo tho! arubaro
Most of that mods arent qol but unbalancing mods 11 hours ago, SuperheroHill said: Backpack slot - One of my biggest frustrations is putting down the backpack when I'm trying to put on armor. But this is how the game works. You wanna have access to extra inventory while fighting? Dont equip body armor Also, since you are new i guess you are still learning and getting damaged by surprise so this also removes that damage when you are unprepare 11 hours ago, SuperheroHill said: Bigger Stacks - Especially for wood Especially wood should have bigger stack number because then would be easier to carry more armor with you in less space. If you are farming wood just craft it into boards, you wont waste much logs but boards and a single stack of boards is equal to 2 stacks of wood 11 hours ago, SuperheroHill said: Wormhole Marks - It helps so much seeing where wormholes go You can do this by crafting certain items, dropping stuff like traps or using the markers that the game already have: moonlens. They appear in the map when you socket a gem 11 hours ago, SuperheroHill said: Combine Status - Seems like that's a no question There is. You won't learn to wont be distracted when the following season is comming. Also you can check it to prevent losing health when you temperature is getting low/high, for example before a fight. You character already do emotes to inform you about their temperature state and thermometer structure exists Unnecessary hand holding information 11 hours ago, SuperheroHill said: Display Attack Range is nice!! Is ugly (idk about you but i appreciate that dst isnt filled with marks, ui and other ugly information) and makes fighting way easier instead of learning by your own. If you turn off lag compensation in private or close to you servers you will know how much range an enemy has without the need of something telling you were to stand and were to move You only are new in a game once, take that time and enjoy the challenge of learning Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/157472-newbie-question-qol-feedback/#findComment-1728730 Share on other sites
