The new Enlightened Strike is great and all, but...

Recommended Posts

With the new perks of Enlightened Strike, catapults can now be used to chop, mine and uproot most natural resources without putting the player's structures at risk. Despite not being part of this update's skilltree lineup, I think it would be quite nice if the same change could be applied to Woodie's Beaver Tail Slam as well.

While such a change wouldn't stop griefers as a whole, it would put a stick in their spokes and many would likely feel less paranoid about lumberjacks with that particular skill active on public servers.

Why though? Its good for clearing out stuff, and nerfing greifing is futile.

One of the nicer things about the Werebeaver's Tail Slam is that it's capable of destroying structures in an area with ease. One of its most relevant uses is duplicating Dreadstone through the use of a Construction Amulet while crafting walls - the walls normally take absurdly long to hammer (since they've got similar stats to Moonrock Walls) but the Werebeaver being able to do it instantly speeds up the process quite a bit. This also applies to ruins statues (which Winona cannot destroy with the Enlightened Strike since they are considered structures) so I hope they don't up making the Tail Slam too similar to the Enlightened Strike.

The thing is, griefing is and has always been easy, and tailoring the game to try and curb this behavior, which is already not common in the first place, would be pointless... as it was already pointed out in this thread, it's as simple as a few grass, twigs and rocks, and abusing the local furnace. Besides, Klei already gave us rollbacks and console commands as convenient tools to revert any and all damage griefers can do.
