This feels insulting

What are people's thoughts on changing what catapults use to build them? Maybe instead of needing 15 rocks each one only needs 3 rocks but it now requires 2-4 boards instead of 3 twigs. And to tie in with the problem with Wiona not having something to easily farm rocks, maybe she can be able to build Wagstaff's Thumper Bird by default.

Im not too sure about this idea though as theres already two characters that have a boon to cutting down trees (Woodie and Maxwell) and I see people lament how Maxwell is a better lumberjack than Woodie.

There's also the problem of her needing nitre and gems of which she doesn't have her own boons to help her get more, but there's new methods to powering generators now from the new skill tree as nightmarefuel is relatively easy to farm a good amount with any character.

Is this a PC exclusive feature or something? I’ve never been able to switch characters in Solo DS lmao.. and if I could, I’d love to know how it’s done without mods or hacks or anything like that..

You got any idea how helpful it would’ve been to be able to switch Wilson to Wolfgang or Wendy at times they would’ve been most helpful during Maxwells campaign?

you keep your items

you can find the teleportato gauranteed in every single world

Theres a lot of back and forth about having a reason to stay Winona after you build catapults. Currently her constructs are buffed based on what you have points in when you build them which is going to change. So I still don't see why you can't let people use level 0 catapults. You'd still have incentives to have someone playing Winona for all the upgrades, but i'd still like people to have the option to set up bq farms if they want to. Another point someone brought up in another thread is that they get in the way of the boss arena if I cant use them and soak up a bunch of resources if that person isn't online. With that maybe we should also be able to move the constructs when not playing Winona.

I definitely disagree on being able to move them. Level 0 catapults for non Winonas would probably be a compromise the player base would enjoy.

most likely, but if not one then the other. wouldn't want to have to hammer them down if i cant use them

To be honest I dont mind either way but what happens to Winona kit's being or not mostly something to swap into to craft and swap from to use as other character should be remembered when the same question arises from Warly and Wicker so its not just an arbitrary decision which characters get to be treated like this or not.

see my post 3 posts up. There will always be a reason to play Winona if you want to. its her upgrades, overcharge, and the spam she can do with the remote.

I‘m so sorry, but I disagree with your viewpoint. I believe that the change preventing other characters from using Winona's catapult is a positive one. I hope that Winona can be a character that provides motivation and persistence throughout the entire game, from start to finish. The catapult is akin to Winona's most significant characteristic. If this characteristic could be enjoyed by others without the necessity of having the character of Winona, I would consider it a failure in her design.

I have never used the Celestial Portal. I mostly play with friends. I can understand the desire to not have “swap characters,” but this just feels anti-multiplayer to me. If I play Winona, my friends can’t run my farms or use any defenses I set up without me being there. I’m basically stuck babysitting. And if other players can’t use or dismantle catapults, then they could get in the way if Winona forgets to pack them up. There are fewer potential character synergies. It would be nice if other players could use the most basic catapults.

If Winona’s other abilities don’t make her compelling to play, then Klei hasn’t actually fixed the problem. Either people will be forced to play her when they don’t want to, or they won’t play her at all.

(I do think there are good reasons to play Winona, and she’ll probably get more time in my solo worlds now. I just might not play her with friends when there are more interesting and altruistic options.)

Why is it with every game, that people want to force there playstyle onto other people? No one needs to use the portal und it`s totally fine if someone just wants to play one character. When I play for 300 days, I also play only one character. But when playing 2000+ Hours the portal is a great tool for more variety. Sometimes I just want a special building for decoration or optimising stuff or don`t want to start a new world to try staff and use some tools. No one needs to do it, but it is a great tool for players that like longterm world. It`s the same wih rushing bosses or play on puplic servers or anything else.

Why can`t people just play how they have fun with the game? Also why needs someone that doesn`t play like this to judge over other players playstil?

Reality is that those people wouldn`t play differently then, they would just stop playing, which makes no sense.  We all love this game, otherwise we would`t be here.

Can we not just find a way togehter, that everybody can enjoy DST how he likes it to play? Of course sometimes it is difficult to find a good balance for different playstiles. But I think that most of the time it is easily possible to find a good way for most players. But of course not, when we need to judge over other players instead of trying to find a middleground.

But back to Wiona: I also dont like her to be a swap-character. I really want to play her and to be a good and fun character. But I dont think only having her use catapults and destroying builds of people is the right way. It way a cool and creative tool for longterm worlds (which are just different to normal survival DST, because at day 2000 you don`t play to find food...). I also don`t think that people start using Wiony because of that. Having her deal more damage with catapults is fine in my opinion, but it needs more than hat.

-> In my Opinion: Wiona will and should be played because of the stuff she HAS, not because of the stuff you REMOVE from other characters.

While I can agree here to an extent.

Why are you forced to play her? How is that different from being forced to play Wolfgang for his power, one of the numerous teleporting characters for their fast travel systems, or one of the resource farming characters for their gathering perks.
