A few suggestions about Wurt's mosquito & wetness skills

Recommended Posts

1. Choosing mosquito trees could provide increased mosquito sacks drop rate when Wurt directly kills mosquitos. Or, similar to Woodie's efficient boards crafting recipe, Wurt could make waterbaloons more efficiently, for example only 1 sack and 1 ice for 4 balloons. Or crafting 1 mosquito sacks using 1 living mosquito. Such buffs can make a meaningful synergy with her wetness skill tree. Currently if you mastered all 3 mosquito trees you can dupe the mosquitos with crafting multiple skeeter bombs, but it's still not enough to fullfill the demands for more waterballoons. Needs more active ways to farm the sacks!

2. Give Wurt the ability to dive in freshwater ponds, or dive into the ocean shores without boat kits, to raise her wetness. More ways to easily raise the wetness makes wetness trees more attractive compared to the merm skills - the current "meta".

3. Remove the sanity penalty of Fashion Melon on Wurt. For now it has -2/min sanity debuff even on Wurt, which is weird since Wurt gains sanity from Seawreath.

4. Dive into water should raise her wetness to 100%. Currently one dive only increase 50% of her wetness. Dive over and over to raise the wetness feels tedious pretty soon. Or introducing new "Splash" interaction to raise the wetness directly would be a good option.

diving into the ponds and removing the sanity drain on the watermelon hat are a good idea. i cant think a lot of ways to keep wet outside of spring. grinding ice from winter for baloons, wet summers with wickerbooks or boating for a bit. it seems like a lot but all are really situational and limited

If you live at the real marsh and leave merm huts next to the mosquito ponds, you passively get a billion mosquito sacks over time. I don’t think raising the drop to 100% would be good at all.
Maybe in the early game you feel you do not get enough sacks, but in all long lasting wurt games I had, before day 100 the amount of mosquito sacks laying around was a lot worse than rot before the recent fix.

TBH i don’t think tossing water balloons is the correct early game way to get wet: jumping to the ocean and wearing fashion melon or ice cubes are. Specially the latter which can be repaired with ice. I still need to test if you can counter the cold effect with sunfish, though. Waterballons are plentiful from second year on anyway.

I agree that if she could jump to the ocean and gain 100 wetness without any boat it would make things a bit easier, and being able to water herself with a watering can would come handy too.

Increasing the sacks droprate isn't really just about water balloons a lot of crafts on her skill tree use mosquito sacks at this point including one I would imagine klei wants you to mass produce keeping it at 50% will just further encourage neglecting the mosquito branch even more so for Wurts who don't base at the swamp.

On the wetness side of things fashion melons don't last long and jumping in the ocean is time consuming since you need a boat (This would be fine though if they allow her to jump in ponds and the ocean without needing to jump from a boat though)

I can’t test it now to prove it because I can’t code , but I think this would be really bad for servers performance in the long run, specially in worlds without Wurts. It would create a ton of building trash in the swamp.

There has to be another solution that is specific for Wurt.
Maybe 100% drop but ONLY if wurt is carrying little itchy and she is within a certain range (carrying that thing would mean she invested in the mosquito path). The range could be really big for what it matters.

As a side note I think the mosquito bomb should apply some debuff to enemies, perhaps sickening them to receive more damage from merms (Wurt included) and they should have a special behavior in which they will never attack back other players, Wurt or any kind of merm.

Basically make it a good complement for Wurts, constantly tossing bombs from a side while commanding her army.
