ADM Posted May 11, 2024 Share Posted May 11, 2024 I like when games have totally bonus difficulty levels the way Rotwood did it, and I hope it’ll go even higher in the future. But to me there’s one thing the current frenzy levels are too merciful about and that’s the healing from the free samples at Doc Hoggins. It's cool that some rooms got reasons to be visited even when we’re cheap like the free power upgrade, really nice, and the free healing isn’t half bad either but imo only on the base frenzy level. As difficulty increases I wish to be challenged more and recover less from my errors since I’m meant to do less of those, the climb to the next frenzy level should be harder than the previous one but not only because enemies are stronger, but because I could have less to work with. This free heal offers too much at max difficulty, 250HP in solo might sound like little but in multiplayer if one player didn’t take much damage they can let others heal for a lot more health like if they had a full potion for free. I think at frenzy level 2 there shouldn’t be refills of the chaudron between the rooms so that it keeps what was left. And at level 3 there just shouldn’t be any but potion refills. Hoggins would need to make this clear with new dialogues line btw. In the end this would get close to how Dead Cells work with its boss cells difficulties, potion refills themselves are only harder and harder which I love in this game. Perhaps if we have more frenzy levels added the whole healing room could be absent from the runs and potions from markets. Kevinnator Posted July 3, 2024 Share Posted July 3, 2024 I don't think the free healing should be taken away completely, instead be scaled down slightly with each difficulty level (down to 125 per player on frenzy 3). Dead Cells does not remove all free healing at the highest difficulty. Each level still gives a guaranteed 2 healing items (1 is infected with malaise but if you're fast, the slight increase in malaise level isn't gonna end your run) and potion refils can be bought at a high price. I do think shops could increase their prices a little at high enough difficulties. Making players go for Teffra rooms more often rather than getting more perks so they always have some money to spare for potions.
