I have been away from DST for a long time (shortly after the old spawning portal has been replaced by the floral poster) and only returned two years ago with leaving in between again and playing normal DS with DLCs again, so I have missed / am still partly unaware of probably 90% of DST's lores / non-ingame content. I remember I used to be confused when DS suddenly has beefalo riding because I wasn't aware that stuff came from DST. Shipwrecked is pretty great though, so I understand wanting to play that. X) Yes the changes are actually quite positive in hindsight and the ones I don't like I usually ignore (e.g. I don't like combat so I usually avoide this part of the game including Ancient fuel weaver [although adoring this guy] and celestial champion including all quest lines that lead to them.) I suppose what kept me from DST playing for such a long time that I didn't like the Queen Charlie idea (I usually don't like drastic changes to ANY fandom's story at all) so I have "ignored" DST for a long time and actually only returned when I felt like: ACTUALLY queen Charlie's rose-aesthetic is a nice one, I will give the game a chance again, and now I actually like it, although I still prefer the non-DST alternative scenarios / settings of the singleplayer game (that means SW and Hamlet).
