JadedMeiji
I am playing on Xbox (no mods available). I was attempting to re tame my beefalo and it went into heat... so I left it for a bit (which it was bonded with a bell so I dropped the bell close to the kitchen, grabbed supplies and left for a couple days). When I returned she had a baby... so cute. I tried to get the baby and her relocated.. Success. They move to a small patch in the desert. I went back to taming... I keep forgetting to feed her, so its not going as fast as it should. Well spring came a few days(?) later and she attacked me so once again I abandoned her for a couple days near the kitchen again...Surprise! She had a baby... and a teen? I moved her far away, dispatched with the little ones and went back to my project... 3 or so days later I came to resupply... THERE WERE 2 TEENS AND 2 BABIES... I set to the butchering, made dinners and left... (Note no adults were here and all previous children had been eradicated) I disconnected from game, turned off Mating Season and reconnected. I left for 2 more days and there were two more babies... at this point I feel like a monster for all the murders but I did it anyway. I walked two biomes over and came back and there is another baby... the nearest herd is in a biome over and their spawn is set correctly... why do I keep getting random babies even when mating is turned off to try to make it stop? I really dont want to kill them anymore... its sad. And they can't stay living here, we simply cant cook in a dirty kitchen. Yuuko
I had something like this happen too. A beef that was not fully domesticated had decayed enough to go into heat and had a kid. The beef and the kid both died b/c while in heat they picked a fight with several koalephants. Then suddenly a new baby a few days later... Mike23Ua
I’m assuming that you tamed your Beefalo with a Beefalo bell, and if you did, it will reproduce new herds, I believe this was intended by the devs so that you can create herds down inside caves and other areas we normally couldn’t have. To get this to stop happening access the bell itself and tap “Break Bond” if your Beefalo is not fully tamed yet then it’ll return to being Wild (but your still imprinting on it) if you STILL have your Beefalo continuing to drop babies everywhere after breaking the bell bond, you may need to “Kill” said problem Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/153868-make-the-beefalos-stop-screaming/#findComment-1694602 Share on other sites

I will try to break the bond and see if that fixes it. I am just surprised that random new babies are still spawning there when I have her moved to a completely different biome again this time away from all the children she has spawned. 5 hours ago, Spino43 said: Sounds like free food to me. You are not wrong Its just the location and it being in the center most Kitchen... if I were to turn heat back on and let it go unchecked it could be devasting to the sounding area (pig pen is near as is the honey farm and an aviary with Glommer fenced in). Not to mention I would get real tired of cleaning poo out of the area. This will prevent her from roaming around even if in Heat. But you will need to “Unhitch” her before she’ll move again. ThymeSpirit
Beefalos that are not 100% domesticated (that is, before they do a "poof" and their hair gets a groomed look) go into heat just like wild ones. In all seasons except spring they stay in heat for a couple days, in spring they never go out of heat until summer starts. I'm not entirely sure, but I think the server setting might only disable the non-spring heat. If you finish the domestication process, your beefalo won't ever go into heat again (unless you let it untame to 0% at which point it will turn into a wild one again). The beefalo bell has nothing to do with all of this. 8 hours ago, JadedMeiji said: I did indeed. I will try to break the bond and see if that fixes it. Beefalos spawn babies when in heat regardless of biome or other beefalos around (I guess through parthenogenesis). At this point I am about to covert the small garden next to the kitchen into a slaughter pen if we keep having spontaneous babies after this next spring. (mating is still off right now) You can move several beefalos at once if you use a beefalo horn next to them, which is dropped with a 33% chance from killing one. You can also make a beefalo hat out of a horn and some wool, which makes it so beefalos in heat don't mind you approaching when you're wearing it. Just remember, if you attack a beefalo, every other beefalo nearby will aggro onto you, even including 100% tamed ones. I also recommend installing a server mod called "beefalo status bar" if you haven't already, it's very helpful for taming and preventing an untimely demise of your beefalo. Sadly I am a console player so I cannot have the shiny mods. I did know about the hat and horn though they were pretty close to the bees by the start of spring so that went okay and I didnt have to use either. Sadly the bees only took out two of the cows and they were quickly replaced by two babies. I THINK I figured out what is happening but I dont know if I am right? So when all this started I had the beef I was taming, when I got fed up with trying to tame it and remember to feed it I moved it to my "Zoo" project along with a couple of teens that followed.. all the ones in that pen are hugging the walls except for the one that I was taming (I think there are 3 or 4 adults there)... my thought is that they are still part of the "herd" that is in the kitchen area and that when they have a baby instead of it popping out over there its popping up at the kitchen? If that makes sense and is what is happening theoretically would this work like a Volt Goat farm and then I can just place anemones and create a butcher room to escort them into for slaughter? DegenerateFurry
This should be a new use for Winona's trusty tape: make mobs silent and/or make them unable to reproduce.
