Riddla
I saw a horse in a field when I was riding home. It made me think of Wigfrid. The skills I've written are very likely to be unbalanced, unfitting, and unnecessarily complicated. All of the suggestions in this post below are separate concepts on what could fit into a skilltree. Maybe a whole skill, maybe a part of it. I want this post to serve as inspiration for other potential in-game perks, whether it be for Wigfrid or anything else. Incoming wall of text. Valiant Cavalry (Beefalo branch) Booming Shout I: While riding a Beefalo, Wigfrid's Inspiration Songs receive +50% extra radius. II: While riding a Beefalo, Wigfrid's Inspiration Songs receive +100% extra radius. Spirit Link I: Beefalo now receives Wigfrid's innate +25% Damage Dealt. II: Beefalo now receives Wigfrid's innate 25% Damage Reduction. Wigfrid can no longer get knocked off the Beefalo. Presence When Wigfrid is riding a Beefalo, the Survivors and Followers within Inspiration Song range receive bonuses, which correspond to the Beefalo's tendency: Ornery - Deal extra +17 Damage per hit. Rider - Receive +15% Movement Speed boost. Pudgy - Receive +50% Resistance to Sanity Auras (additive with Bel Canto of Courage). Default - Deal extra +8 Damage, and receive +7.5% Movement Speed boost. All different tendency boosts can be applied to the group if more Wigfrids are present, but they do not stack. (so no x5 Riders) Seasoned Duelist (Weapon branch) Just like Woodie's skilltree, you can choose one final ability out of three. Mastery: Bludgeoning Affects weapons which hit with blunt force, such as: Hammer, Ham Bat, Shield of Cthulhu, Thulecite Club. I: Blunt weapons receive 30% less damage to their Durability. II: Any attack with a Blunt weapon will Sunder the target, forcing it to receive extra +17 Damage for 4 next hits. (This damage bonus does not affect Wigfrid's Blunt weapons, they instead refresh the hit counter to 4.) III: Right-clicking lets Wigfrid spend 0.5 seconds to deal a small AoE blow with Blunt weapon around herself, causing the following effects: Stun non-Boss creatures for 4 seconds Force Boss creatures to receive x1.2 extra damage from all sources for 6 seconds. The attack consumes 16 Inspiration, and has a 10-second Cooldown. Mastery: Slashing Affects weapons which slash enemies, such as: Axe, Dark Sword, Glass Cutter, Brightshade Sword. I: Slashing weapons receive extra +17 Damage dealt. II: Every 3rd attack forces affected target to Bleed for 5% of a slashing Weapon's damage every second, stacking up to 20% total. A stack of Bleeding decays every 3 seconds if creature is not attacked with any weapon. III: Right-clicking lets Wigfrid instantly cleave in a 120 degree cone, performing an AoE attack within melee range, with following effects: Apply 3 stacks of Bleed. Deal x1.5 Weapon Damage. The attack consumes 16 inspiration, and has a 4-second Cooldown. Mastery: Piercing Affects weapons which pierce enemies, such as: Spear, Battle Spear, Strident Trident, Tentacle Spike, Pickaxe. I: Piercing weapons receive extra +1 Range, akin to Wanda's Alarming Clock II: While holding a Piercing weapon, Damage Taken is stored as Bonus Damage on Wigfrid's next attack. III: Right-clicking allows Wigfrid, within 0.5 seconds, to Deflect an incoming attack. If Wigfrid gets attacked within that timeframe, the following effects occur: All damage taken is redirected to Wigfrid weapon's durability, divided by 4. Deflects damage towards the attacking creature with formula: (Damage Taken + Weapon Damage) * 2 Right-click ability cooldown is reduced by half. Attack consumes 16 inspiration, and has a 16-second Cooldown. (a fancy way to say "Parry" if you are familiar with Forge) Stage Props (Crafting branch) Battle Shield An alternative to Battle Spear, which trades offense for defense. Damage: 27.2 Durability: 515 Damage Reduction: 70% 80% Crafting Recipe: 2 Gold, 2 Flint, 2 Rocks Gjallarhorn Blare the horn to raise the morale of your allies and strengthen their resolve. Usable only when Inspiration thresholds below have been met. Wigfrid buffs Survivors and Followers for 10 seconds with listed effects: 16 Inspiration: +20% Movement Speed 50 Inspiration: +20% Movement Speed, +10% Damage Reduction (separately after Armor DR) 83 Inspiration: +20% Movement Speed, +20% Damage Reduction, +17 Damage Bonus The Horn consumes all of the Inspiration Wigfrid has over time within 15 seconds, forcing it to rapidly decay rather than instantly emptying the meter. It has infinite uses, but receives a 1 Minute cooldown. Recipe: 1 Beefalo Horn, 1 One-man Band, 6 Gold Pieces Viking Longboat Construct a nimble, sturdy boat, which can hold up to 6 survivors, however having no ability to put any structures on it (excluding Boat-related structures such as Steering Wheel) Multiple survivors can Row for significantly increased sailing speed. Has 300 Health Receives 60% Less Damage from ramming into Objects. Recipe: 3 Boards, 4 Gold Pieces, 4 Flint. Sharpening Stone Sharpen your weapon for a temporary increase in Damage. Usable by all survivors. Drag the stone in inventory and right click on a Weapon. Affected weapon receives +17 Damage Bonus. Damage Bonus lasts for 50% of Weapon's Durability. Each use consumes 20% of Stone's durability. Recipe: 2 Cut Stones, 2 Marble, 1 Sewing Kit Makeshift Plating Modify a crafted Armor with the Plating, increasing its maximum Durability by amount depending on crafted Plating type. Drag the plating in inventory and right click on the Armor. Only one type per armor can be applied, lasting until armor breaks: 1.) Sturdy Plating: Armor restores +80 Durability and receives +80 Maximum Durability. (Recipe: 2 Cut Stone, 1 Hammer) 2.) Gold Plating: Armor restores +175 Durability and receives +175 Maximum Durability. It also blings in a cool way sometimes. (Recipe: 6 Gold Pieces, 1 Hammer) 3.) Marble Plating: Armor restores +300 Durability and receives +300 Maximum Durability. (Recipe: 3 Marble, 1 Hammer) 4.) Thulecite Plating: Armor restores +500 Durability and receives +500 Maximum Durability (Recipe: 3 Thulecite, 1 Hammer) Jotun Barding Put on a bulky armor on your Beefalo, which soaks damage and eventually breaks. The sheer weight of it partially slows down the Beefalo. Can be removed with a Saddlehorn. Has 2750 Durability. Absorbs Beefalo's damage taken by 40%. Slows Beefalo down by 15%. Has a beautiful unicorn horn attached to the head. Recipe: 2 Cut Stones, 4 Marble, 6 Gold Pieces. Unrivaled Symphonist (Song branch) Songs tagged as (R), meaning Repeat, are activated if Wigfrid plays the aforementioned song which is already applied to her Inspiration meter. All effects below fully consume Inspiration, gradually draining the meter over time within 15 seconds, rather than instantly. The duration of all listed effects is equal to (Inspiration / 10 * 1.5) seconds (At 50 Inspiration, that's 7.5 seconds. At 100 Inspiration, that's 15 seconds.) All songs listed below share the cooldown of 15 seconds. Unity (R) Heartrending Ballad Each hit from affected Survivors additionally heal the most injured Survivor within Wigfrid's song range for 1 HP. If this targets Wigfrid herself, she instead recovers +0.5 HP. Guarding Stance (R) Weaponized Warble Survivors take 30% less Durability damage on armor. The damage amount, which was reduced, is then redirected to the attackers. Mind Wars (R) Clear-minded Cadenza Survivors receive temporary Damage Bonus and Damage Reduction against Shadow/Lunar-aligned creatures, depending on their current Sanity. At 0-25% Sanity, the amount is 15% against Lunar side. At 26-75% Sanity, the amount is 10% against Both sides. At 76-100% Sanity, the amount is 15% against Shadow side. Heightened Concentration (R) Bel Canto of Courage Survivors temporarily become immune to Grogginess and Mind Control. (old) Survivors temporarily become resistant to Grogginess, recovering from it faster and requiring more hits to be knocked unconscious. Pacifies and turns all Shadow Creatures and Gestalts invisible within Inspiration range, until the effect runs out. Thermal Leech (R) Fireproof Falsetto Survivors receive 90% resistance to Fire and Freezing damage, and unleash extra effects depending on their body temperature. Each hit increases body temperature by 5 if it's below 35, and decreases by 5 if above 35. When below 25 degrees, each hit acts like 1 hit from an Ice Staff. When above 50 degrees, all hits set targets on fire. When Survivor receives damage while they're Frozen, in a small radius they unleash ice shards, freezing all creatures around the Survivor. Playing instant songs below consumes Inspiration amount based on thresholds listed below, however that Inspiration is gradually drained over 15 seconds rather than disappearing instantly. Instant Songs receive a 15-second cooldown as well if played within Inspiration threshold. Normal Songs (above) and Instant Songs have separate cooldowns. Constructive Backlash Rude Interlude Can now be played with no inspiration, receiving 6-second cooldown. The effect gets strengthened the higher Wigfrid's Inspiration is. At 16 Inspiration, extends Taunt duration to 6 seconds. At 50 Inspiration, extends Taunt duration to 8 seconds. During that time, mobs deal 15% reduced damage to other allies, excluding Wigfrid. At 83 Inspiration, extends Taunt duration to 10 seconds. During that time, mobs deal 25% reduced damage to other allies, excluding Wigfrid. Phantom of the Opera Startling Soliloquy Can now be played with no inspiration, receiving 6-second cooldown. The effect gets strengthened the higher Wigfrid's Inspiration is. At 16 Inspiration, extends Frightened duration to 6 seconds. At 50 Inspiration, extends Frightened duration to 8 seconds. Non-Boss creatures tremble in place for the first 3 seconds. At 83 Inspiration, extends Frightened duration to 10 seconds. Non-Boss creatures tremble in place for the first 5 seconds. (so no x5 Riders) Why I'm a little reluctant to supporting any beefalo skill is because of the norse mythological existence of this: There are volt goats in the game which are literally electric goats. All is missing is a chariot. I'd appreciate this for Wigfrid more than a beefalo to set her apart. Sorry. Your heart is in the right place, but I'd be disappointed if she got a beefalo related perk, especially in terms of buffing raw stats, since she's a stat monster herself and the only beefalo worth crafting for wigfrid is the speedster. 44 minutes ago, Riddla said: Battle Shield An alternative to Battle Spear, which trades offense for defense. Damage: 27.2 Durability: 515 Damage Reduction: 70% Crafting Recipe: 2 Gold, 2 Flint, 2 Rocks It's weak. It's really weak. Seems like filler. I've scrolled down and I don't want this to come across as me poo pooing on your ideas because I think some of them are pretty good and a welcome addition, but this one is not it. I wouldn't mind a shield making it in, but this one is severely underpowered. 46 minutes ago, Riddla said: Gjallarhorn Blare the horn to raise the morale of your allies and strengthen their resolve. Not my favorite. 47 minutes ago, Riddla said: Viking Longboat Construct a nimble, sturdy boat, which can hold up to 6 survivors, however having no ability to put any structures on it (excluding Boat-related structures such as Steering Wheel) Multiple survivors can Row for significantly increased sailing speed. But it's a scary skill to consider. 48 minutes ago, Riddla said: Sharpening Stone Sharpen your weapon for a temporary increase in Damage. Usable by all survivors. Recipe: 2 Cut Stones, 2 Marble, 1 Sewing Kit All I see is Wolfgang/Wanda. This is a switch skill and in practice, I don't really like them. Sure, Wigfrid has a support role, but her support at least is one that is active. She must be in the party for other players to benefit. This one is a winona catapult and warly's entire kit in one. 50 minutes ago, Riddla said: Makeshift Plating Modify a crafted Armor with the Plating, increasing its maximum Durability by amount depending on crafted Plating type. She herself is a tank. I don't think it should translate to her, especially since it's better to delegate something she lacks in her own stats onto a beefalo which is speed. 52 minutes ago, Riddla said: Unity (R) Heartrending Ballad Each hit from affected Survivors additionally heal the most injured Survivor within Wigfrid's song range for 1 HP. I'm not THAT opposed to it. 53 minutes ago, Riddla said: Guarding Stance (R) Weaponized Warble Survivors take 30% less Durability damage on armor. Might be more qol than anything. 54 minutes ago, Riddla said: Mind Wars (R) Clear-minded Cadenza Survivors receive temporary Damage Bonus and Damage Reduction against Shadow/Lunar-aligned creatures, depending on their current Sanity. This one needs a bit of work, but it's probably my favorite concept of all the songs. For the most part, I don't think I can get on board with most of this. Especially when there's an issue that sticks out like a sore thumb when it comes to Wigfrid's planar weapons. They're generally weaker than the dark sword. She currently has really cool synergies with other existing items that I wouldn't really want to lose and her current songs are already quite powerful, but the problem is that inspiration songs can't really be used well day to day. I'd make her craft respective shadow and lunar planar weapons and armor that differ from the usual gear with benefits that only affect wigfrid. The omission of that from your suggestions makes me a little sad. I really like this unique addition and that could work in a nice way. Volt Goats can be more of an offensive alternative to Beefalo, fittingly having 700 HP while dealing much higher damage if charged. Beefalo felt like the safest choice to go with, since it's the mount animal in the game, whereas Goats would probably require all those extra animations and sprites. If goat taming were to be implemented though, I'd hella love it. 23 hours ago, chirsg said: It's weak. It's really weak. Seems like filler. I wouldn't mind a shield making it in, but this one is severely underpowered. I was paranoid about it making Shield of Terror feel pointless to aim for, so I made it a step below that shield in terms of Damage Reduction and Damage. Though part of me thinks that the terror shield really needs some big buff, lol. Also don't worry about it, I appreciate you reading suggestions and giving feedback. 23 hours ago, chirsg said: All I see is Wolfgang/Wanda. I mainly wanted it to be an independent support aspect of Wigfrid to help out her team, rather than only ever relying on songs, but I genuinely have no clue about a better way to approach that. 23 hours ago, chirsg said: Seems like filler once more. The Plating is designed to be sort of a one-time-use Sewing Kit for repairing Armor, while simultaneously increasing its maximum durability too. I thought it'd prove useful, since it allows you to use up the resources you're abundant in to strengthen rare armor. For example if you're farming Marble Trees a lot, you could use some of the marble to improve your Dreadstone armor. EDIT: I should actually specify the repair part in the main post, oops 23 hours ago, chirsg said: This seems a bit too overpowered. I wouldn't want that kind of bailout against the respective final bosses. What if instead it gave Resistance to those aforementioned effects? Like make Grogginess last shorter and require more applications to force Survivors asleep? Mind Control immunity though is probably something that is worth straight up removing, now that I am looking back.
