You can go into the game's files and submit a bug report and cite the client_log.txt file. It's a bit of work and again, it depends entirely on how much your friend cares. Ball's in your court. Or rather your friend's court. You can either submit a full bug report or let the game be unplayable. In situations like this, there's a certain level of teamwork between the player and the developer.
