How to beat the lunar Varg

I see many people complaining about it being too hard while going against it head on alone. I will explain how i beat it.

Main Accessable Strategy That works for (Almost) everyone

A consistent and easily accessable strategy that works for every character is using 6 or more befriended pigmen and a brightshade staff, sword and helm. No need to give the pigs armour

(Use merms as Wurt and do even better, strategys for Webber and Wortox will be mentioned later)

1st Phase (Regular Varg)

Command your pigmen to attack the varg. Use your brightshade staff to kill the hounds, and use your sword when it is just the varg all alone. This should not be that hard

2nd Phase (Actual Lunar Varg)

Command your pigmen to attack the varg as usual. This is essentially the exact same as the first phase but watch out for the breath attack. You wont end up using your sword much since most of the time you will be focusing on the staff to kill the hounds, but use it if it is safe. A few pigmen will die, but that is essentially it. Just bring a few emergency heals and the fight should go smoothly as the varg will die from the staff's crossfire and the pigs.

You can use Wormwood's saladmanders aswell to tank the varg and it is mostly the same, you wont need pigs to help you. Pigs are the weakest follower in the game so you could take it a step further by using character exclusive ones too like bernie.

 

Webber and Wortox

For both, you will use spiders. By using the spider hat as Wortox you can recruit ten spiders. A nurse or two would be great though warriors are still tanky.

Wortox also has access to easy teleports and many souls from the hounds so you could teleport behind the varg when it uses its ice breath to hit and stun it, though likely followers do that for you often but teleports in battle are generally useful. Strategy is essentially the same as pigmen so good luck!

 

The lunar Varg is cool since you use followers in a strategic way to split up the work of the battle.

Here's an alternative method that can be done damageless without staff or minions. It is not as easy as it looks, read the notes below:

 Things to watch out for:

• Don't attack the Varg when hounds are near. Hounds will aggro you.
• Don't let the Varg kill hounds with fire breath. Mutated hounds aren't lured by food.
• Hounds will aggro you instead of food if you get too close.
• Hound cap of increased if there's multiple players (I think)

You can probably be extra evil and use dog whistles to recruit the hounds themselves and turn them against the Varg.

Varg should be easier now due to hounds bug fix, though i still think followers are the best way still

You can use fire crackers too in order to stun the hounds. I didn't try mention the seasonal exclusive stuff but fire crackers are really useful for hound waves too.
