Winona Skill Tree Branch Idea, Factory Outsourcing

Recommended Posts

So, my idea for one of Winona's skill tree branches, is a bunch of new structures designed around making your base, and farms, as efficient as possible.

Generator Efficiency: Allows Winona to craft upgrades to her generators. Refueling the generator is also more efficient.

Winona can build two types of "Generator upgrades" that give a different bonus each.

The Efficiency Upgrade makes the generator last twice as long on the same amount of fuel, giving the standard generator a charge of 960 on a full charge, and doubling the fuel efficiency.

Range Upgrade extends the effective radius of a generator, allowing one generator to power more machines (although not decreasing the power usage of said machines)

The Alternative Fuel upgrade allows for alternate fuel types to be used (but can only be used for the standard generator). When used, allows the generator to be charged with twigs (7.5%), Logs (20%), or Charcoal (33.3%). When used on a G.E.M.erator, allows it to accept Thuelcite Fragments (25% efficiency), Thuelcite (75% efficiency), Moon shards (15% efficiency), or infused moonshards (75% efficiency).

Allows access to the power pole, which can be used to transfer power, and extend the range of the generators. If a can attract birds, but also damages boss sized mobs if they walk between them, damaging the power lines as well.

A passive bonus would be that If Winona has this perk when she refuels her generators, the fuel is counted as twice as efficient, allowing a single piece of niter to fully fuel a generator.

From here, the Skill branches to 3 new skills, similarly to Wilsons alchemy skill tree.

Efficient Harvesters: Allows Winona to take a few pages from Wagstaffs Journal, and craft 3 new machines. The Harvester, the Thumper, and the Sweeper.

The Harvester will automatically pick any resources that require a player to stop and manually harvest, such as twigs, grass tufts, Reeds, Monkeytails, berry bushes, Stonefruit Bushes, Banana bushes, Lightflowers, lesser glowberries, Spikey bushes, cacti, and even tumbleweeds that come into range. Basically, if it's affected by Woodies Faster Picking Skill, it can be picked by the machine.

Also allows Winona to craft Wagstaffs Thumper from Don't Starve Hamlet (with an adjusted design) in improve harvesting of trees and boulders. Not many changes from Solo don't starve, other than the recipe.

The Sweeper on the other hand is more like the Sweepy Dock from Oxygen Not Included. It sends out a sweeper that will pick up items from the ground, and deposit them in the docking station. The Docking station will send sweepers to deposit items in chests if they are nearby, but specific filtering will require a chest to be labeled with a chest sign, and a book and quill. If no storage containers are nearby, the sweepy will continue to hold all the items it collects, in a manner similar to a moleworm burrow, or a pirate stash. If an item is walled off, Sweepy will not be able to pick said item up, so it would be ideal to refrain from building the dock where Sweepy could get trapped.

Heavy Duty Weaponry: Winona brings forth an assortment of weaponry from beyond the Constant, and she intends to use them. Also allows for magic improvement for catapults.

Allows Winona to craft a Repeater, Spinner traps, and Fire and Ice Catapult upgrades.

The Repeater would be the second firearm added, and do around 150 damage per shot, at a fire rate similar to the blow darts. It would have it's own inventory, but that inventory would only be able to hold a stack of 10 bullets at any given time, and you need to put them in when you reload (You preform the pickup animation whenever you put ammo in the gun). The ammunition would also be made by Winona, and each craft would make 10 bullets at the cost of 3 gunpowder, 3 gold, and 2 marble.

Spinner traps are Winona's exclusive "Teeth Trap" alternatives. Unlike the Tooth Trap that only hits once (but hits hard), or the Bramble Trap (Which hits decent, in an AOE burst), The Spinner trap works as a sort of blender, that shoots out of the ground, and hits whatever it hits multiple times (Like the Celestial Champion's phase 2 spin attack, but stationary). It spins for 8 seconds, at about 20 damage per hit, making it more efficient on slower, or stationary enemies.

The Fire and Ice catapult upgrades can be crafted with tape, and Red and Blue gems, and are slotted into Winona's Catapults, to allow a fire or freezing AOE effect (similarly to Wolfgang's Fire and Ice barbell throws).

Farmhand Fabrication: Winona improved her craft to outsource farming to technology.

The Fertilizer Spreader can be build near farm crops to supply nutrients to the plots. Can be fueled with the fertilizer types, and will supply nutrients as needed. Can also fulfill a similar role to the Ice flingomatic during summer to prevent wilting.Powered by Winona's generators.

The Seed Sower can be loaded with seeds, and can automatically plant and harvest them when supplied with power. It will plant a 3 by 3 farm tile, will try to plant seeds that are in season, and even try to match crop combinations if given specific seeds when possible. Powered by Winona's generators.

The Sprinkler System will function similarly to the one in Hamlet, but will not require close proximity to water, and will have a larger radius. If in proximity to a body of water like a lake or ocean, it will only need charge from one of Winona's generators, and will provide water to plants in it's radius. If build away from a body of water, Can be stocked with watering cans, and will use them at 4 times the consumption.

The Water Tower can be used as a storage for collected rainwater, allowing for you to refill watering cans, or water balloons. The water is immune to evaporation during summer, but will periodically eject Ice in winter. If built near a sprinkler, it will supply act as a water supply for watering crops.

If all 3 branches are learned, allows you to choose between Shadow, or Lunar affinity builder skills. (Still haven't figured what these branches would do yet)

Yes I realize a number of these could be a bit OP, but please discuss your thoughts. I just like the idea of Winona having the option to spec for automation.
