Yeah releasing around the Silksong release is not going to be a good idea. Call me tasteless but i've never quite gelled with HK, however, i'm gonna have to try!

i dont think klei would ever care about another game release date clash with their beta, plus people who play silksong would most likely take a break and check out beta anyways

I'm playing it day 1 and if the beta is out I'll definitely take time away from silksong to try it out

I mean, this is literally the job of project managers.... so you're wrong.

Guys, it's a BETA. It releasing along with another game is not as big of a deal as it would be for the actual full release of the update. And there's a lot of people out there with a lot of tastes. Myself, for example, don't care about hollow night, never vibed with the franchise, so I'll be choosing DST no matter what. It's really not that big of a deal if you go for the new game, or stay for the beta

When pushing something to a stable branch of anything, it would be appropriate and reasonable to consider variables that will influence engagement - especially when you're looking for feedback. It's not a certainty that someone will consider this, it is however likely.

No point in guessing based on how you generally feel about it, get a relevant job in the field - and understand why this is not only prudent, it's literally a standard. Jesus christ.

Alright.

I think klei should care about another game release date clash with their beta, plus people who play silksong would most likely not take a break and check out beta anyways.
I won't be and I prefer DST much more.

That usually only applies to game release vs game release- Those dates are more set in stone and can not often be changed.

But a game content update vs another game content update or a content update vs a new game release is unlikely to be considered as much.

I don’t think anyone scheduled the release of their game around the idea of “No Man’s Sky’s new huge update”

No one had any idea it was coming and now the creators of Starfield are quite literally in a panic to push something, anything out to compete against it.

The release of Hallow Knight Silksong would only effect the DST beta if a large group of the DST Devs were taking the time off work to play it. Which would mean: That if they released the beta they’d be too busy with Silksong to do any under the hood dev work of hotfixing issues that arise with it.

That is an Unlikely scenario… but I do recall once where an entire studio was given the day off to play a hotly anticipated game release, I can’t remember the game.. I’m thinking it was a legend of Zelda game or something.. but I thought it was hilarious how they all took the day off to play someone else’s game.

Why do people feel they can do this? Why do you feel you can just say what you want because you feel strongly about it?

I'm sorry was this not in written the big arbitrary dev rulebook that everyone is bound to by law? Just the depths of ignorance here sometimes is baffling.

You know that Klei promised an update in September, right? "We've had to delay that because Silksong" isn't really an acceptable excuse. They can just extend the beta period if they don't get enough engagement, and say that's why.

Why do you feel you have any more right to talk about it than anyone else? Who made you gatekeeper? I know Mike has a history of giving... takes, but you're going after at least two others this time. What is even the point of a forum?

Dunno why a lot of you act like when silk song releases no one can play other games or do anything else. A beta release will have a few features that at most will take an hour or two to check out and not everyone is going to actually play silksong.

I told you it wouldn't be a great idea from a Project management perspective, I also told you it's not a certainty they will.

Why you deciding things for me? Anything else you attribute to me? You're asking who's making me gatekeeper? - well you are, I didn't say any of that xD

Just because you've got the ability to comment on everything doesn't mean you have valid experience... sorry haha

i dont think beta is some sort of big event that klei needs to somehow plan super deeply , it comes out when is ready

Klei won’t lose anything by releasing the beta on the same day Silksong drops. I doubt they even care about that. There’s always going to be a core group of players who test the betas anyway.

they are surely cooking up some good skill tree and content ( warly skill tree )

cope

I don't think the developers are preparing the skill tree for the next important story update that will complete the story with the arcs.

wouldnt it be better to tidy up the characters then finishing the story? Idk I Imagine fighting the final very epic bosses n the others can do lots of stuff and the only thing you can do is shove circuits up your chest :wilson_cry:(character-wise)

Not everyone will play Silksong, but perhaps the influencers that people usually follow for beta news won't cover the event, or at least not as quickly. It's a risk, but Silksong has been so eagerly awaited and announced so late that it was difficult to anticipate and act accordingly. When I'm not expecting a particular update on DST, I sometimes miss the betas and only see them when my usual YouTubers cover them.
