chirsg
Ideally, when I start new worlds, I leave it as survival with world settings untouched. These days, I will rarely keep a world. I'm still waiting on the roll that gives me another basalt jail to commit to a new world. However, on my 10000 day world, I currently have Winter's feast permanent, fire hounds off, wildfires off, with other unnotable events also toggled on. I'll admit, a lot of settings serve to preserve what I've built and supplement builds as well. But when it comes to toggling, there are certain things in game that make it less beneficial in other ways, i.e. a tradeoff - Fire hounds Fire hounds are the bane of mega basers or people who build features that are made of flammables. Especially when it comes to people who deem flingomatics to clash with the theme of builds as well as people like myself who like to decorate using pig houses and bunny hutches that kill hounds without regard towards flammability to their own surroundings. As a result of switching off fire hounds, a problem arises that there are shortages of red gems, and arguably are one of the most important items for survival. - Winter's Feast To state the obvious, Klaus can be fought 3-4 times per year and yields more chances to acquire krampus sacks. However, you lose a steady supply of wax paper and you'll plateau if you choose to enable permanent winter's feast. However, this is all offset when it comes to the reward of festive lights and many gifts from Klaus and sleeping under a tree, but losing a steady supply of wax paper is a blow to be sure. Is anyone else able to give examples of inadvertent balancing that comes with making the world suit you? Keeping brightshades and rifts off in the overworld and underground hampers productivity, to add. Brago-sama
Ive always kept tree regrowth off for pine and birch trees. It was like that in DS and it's very nice not having to place a random wall every 2 - 3 turf tiles just to stop them from coming back. Plus with the whole brightshade rift thing making a mess, it cuts down on cleanup endgame ‐‐----------------- I also turn off petrification. Again, im just so used to the OG singleplayer, and im happy that we were given a way to turn it off. Im fully aware it's purely detrimental but thats fine, theres plenty of ways to get minerals if needed. ----------------- I always set Mctusk camps to more pre-World Generation if it's a Co-op world. It's most likely a fun temporary world, so why not add some comfort while we're all together -------- Year of the bunnyman and Cawnival are on. Theyre just so fun, tho usually i only get to them late game. The Cawnival in particuler has some GREAT base decor you can win/farm for.
