The lunar side applies to all negative sanity values and the armor itself doesn’t drain your sanity, while the shadow side only applies to armors and it just decreases the impact they have on you

And shadow weaponry, but fair. Though what if you also got a natural 33% reduction on all shadow creatures and sources, like nightmares, ancient fuelweaver, and nightmare lights? Also you’d need brightshade gear to maximize the lunar side, if that tips the balance a bit.

Yeah, I feel like without the buff or some other change. The book doesn’t really provide not enough of something new like that. The show allows you to a friend spider queen, but the book only allows you to keep spiders you already have, and there are other means of keeping them already so I feel like it just needs that little bit to push it over the edge to provide something new

I’ll keep that in mind and think of something.

You don’t have to go out of their way to make it more punishing for to be discouragedI mean, it’s already discouraged, like Imagine if it broke in the middle of a fight and it’s repair kit it’s already kind of costly due to requiring hard get endgame items. I felt they would disappear from the book when it’s broken but when it’s fixed, you would have access to them again. Also, another idea would be they could be released from the book unbefriended. Why do you have a problem with them leaving evidence?

Honestly, I’ll reconsider not vanishing the spiders, but I’m still against them dropping loot or leaving the book in physical form.

Also I’m against leaving evidence because I don’t like the idea of Webber seeing a mass amount of spider remains after using the book. I’d also rather avoid any implications that features may induce, as I’d prefer the inner workings of it staying a bit more mysterious than if the spiders were confirmed to be dead.

Works for me

Would it also only work with void gear what does shadow sign?

What would you suggest other than regaining access to them after repairing the book which also works for me

The shadow side affects any shadow equipment that drains or consumes sanity, So stuff like dark swords and batbats, not void gear. Thinking about it now, it seems more bother some then I originally thought, but that’s how it’d work under the current system.

Idk.

Then maybe. Make the lunar side work with more than just brightshade armor.

What else could it work with though? I’d have to redesign the system or make additions to what armor could classify as “lunar”.

The Crown also the warbis armor also I didn’t mention the weapons but now that I think about it, I think there’s actually more lunar stuff than there is shadow stuff

All of those are still after celestial champion, which is around the same time as rifts. Although now that I think about it, I should’ve still included those, or at least the crown.

Brightshade gear is also after the champion remember the gestalts that make brightshades only come out of the rifts that form as a result of beating celestial champion

The part I was saying I had a problem with is that half of the full potential of the perk requires brighshade gear or defeating celestial champion, when it's supposed to be more early game friendly. Not to mention that the only ways to use the buff early game are through a full moon, lunar island, or glass cutters, with the environmental one being unreliable. I could make it so the moon glass head legs could store the environmental buff in a way. I might rework the perk a bit, later.

And about the book thing:

I just had a half-built idea where you could "corrupt" a story of yours using pure horror or whatever means, and either the spiders turn into gloomveil spiders or they get a massive but temporary planar buff.

Also, what if the book could slowly repair itself across days. Like 2-5% durability per day.

You could also get it through the moon glass axe or the lunar fun cap

I like it definitely go with the massive buff though since you can already gloomveil spiders in it

The moon glass axe would mean the same thing as glass cutters. I was aware of lunar funcaps, but its inconvenience with toadstool, moon shrooms, and the lack of utility that makes it worth wearing in battles or other stuff is why I ignored it.

I’ll try to work with it then.

My current idea is to replace the original planar buff perk with another one that give entity planar protection and replaces 20 dmg with 20 planar dmg to the spiders. The perk could be called “corruption” or “planarfication,” and wouldn’t consume book durability. It would instead require you to insert 1 pure horror into the book to make it available, with an 8 minute cooldown.

@Dr.Webber

Sounds good, let me know if you have any other ideas cause my creative juices are sort of running dry right now
