Swag Master69
With a new beta comes a bold new direction for our survivors. While I'm personally mixed on the update overall (mostly due to Wilson's rework feeling strange now) I can admit that the idea of choosing my own perks is alluring. I figured that since Klei is going in this direction we may as well put our skill ideas out there for them to consider. First just a few things to keep in mind: -You get 15 insight points -You have seem to get about 25 options to choose from (27 for Woodie and Wormwood, 26 for Wilson and 25 for Wolfgang) -Some characters may not be able to choose certain alignments Here's an example of a full skill tree for Warly I made: Warly has 3 sections in his skill tree, Food Prep, Dining and Alignment Under Food Prep his skills are as follows Spoiler Chain 1 -Fast Food 1-5 Your Portable Crock Pot will cook faster. Level 1 - 30% Level 2 - 35% Level 3 - 40% Level 4 - 45% Level 5 - 50% Chain 2 -Fishing Yield Doubles meat dropped by fish when you murder them. -Accomplished Butcher 1 Occasionally acquire more meat from slaughtered prey -Accomplished Butcher 2 Increased chances of acquiring more meat from slaughtered enemies, chances of extra meat go up with target’s size Chain 3 -Speed Spicing 1-2 Spice your foods faster. Level 1 - 25% Level 2 - 50% -Seasoned Chef Obtain more spices per craft (+2 for basic spices, +1 for alignment spices) -Fired Up Cooking speed now goes up with fire intensity. Chain 4 -Food Preservation 1-2 Food in your Chef Pouch/Insulated Pack lasts even longer. For Dining Warly has Spoiler Chain 1 -Fine Dining 1-3 Gain bonus Health and Sanity from crock pot meals. Level 1 - 11% Level 2 - 22% Level 3 - 33% (Like in Shipwrecked) Chain 2 Spiced Time 1-3 Perks from spiced meals will last longer for you. (up to 100%) Level 1 - 50% Level 2 - 75% Level 3 - 100% Chain 4 (Requires 4 points total combined from chains 1 and 2) -Friendly Feast Feeding allies gives them the selected buffs from above, followers also follow longer. Chain 5 Dried Foods Expand your palate to foods from Drying Racks at the cost of lowered benefits. Cooked Foods -Expand your palate to cooked foods at the cost of far lowered benefits. And finally for Alignment Warly has Spoiler -Shadow Caterer The Queen will reward your loyalty by giving you a taste for the fuel. -Lunar Expeditor The Cryptic Founder will reward your curiosity by showing you the delicacies of the moon. I don't have anything besides the names for these yet Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/149122-brainstorming-new-skill-trees/ Share on other sites
Trevindo
There are some fun ideas here, but I suggest considering some of them as they directly affect Warly's food debuff. I also think this type of post is a bit out of place with the discussion of what was featured in the beta, so I suggest putting it in the general discussion section, as I did with a very similar topic: Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/149122-brainstorming-new-skill-trees/#findComment-1647233 Share on other sites
Ardcrumb
I think Wilson should be able to craft a thermonuclear bomb Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/149122-brainstorming-new-skill-trees/#findComment-1647256 Share on other sites
Anthony_L3hr
Wes will only be able to gain a maximum of 8 insight and not a very big skill tree. He's not very bright, unfortunately. Hunger Pangs I,II Spoiler - When Wes is at low hunger (15-1), he gains a 15% speed boost. - Eating any food with an empty stomach (0) will fill his stomach more, 5% increased hunger restoration from food. Pessimistic Pantomiming I,II,III Spoiler - Wes can perform a new pantomime "Stuck in a box", absorbs 10% of oncoming damage and lasts 3 seconds. But keeps Wes in one place for the duration of the box. - "Stuck in a box" pantomime will last longer, now up to 6 seconds. - Pantomiming/examining things while inside the box will aggro all mobs and bosses nearby, immediately. It also draws aggro away from players being attacked. Balloonamancy I,II Spoiler - Wes will more efficiently produce balloons, crafting a single balloon now creates two. - Speed Balloon will now last longer on the map after letting it go. - Balloons can startle mobs, making them panic, but mobs will then aggro on Wes as a result of his tomfoolery. Shadow Coulrophobia Spoiler - The Shadow Queen will reward your loyalty with accompanying shadow hands that make shadow puppets when Wes pantomimes, makes mobs panic and does not draw aggro toward him. No effect on bosses. Lunar Life of the Party Spoiler - The Cryptic Founder gains interest of your peculiar charm and grants you the ability to craft some "Full Moon Party Favors" to celebrate the moon entity. "Full Moon Party Favors" include being able to make balloons in the shape of the moon that provide a sanity aura of +7 per minute when standing near it. (Pops every new moon.) Did this one for fun. DinsdaleP
Wortox could make good use of a skill tree, because it would be exactly the thing to that gives you so much more uses for souls. For example, effects could be: Spoiler - burn (sacrifice) a soul on a campfire or fire pit for +25% damage for half a day - feed a soul to your alchemy machine for more efficient crafting - feed a soul to a moleworm to get night vision for half a day - combine a soul with a dark petal to craft nightmare fuel - passive sanity regen if you have 10+ souls in your inventory - feed a soul to a pig/bunnyman/merm or even a hound to enslave them for half a day - lunar/shadow affinity that makes appropriately aligned mobs take more damage if you drop a soul near them Such ridiculously good potential. Waitdire
I think it would be interesting if a Warly in his branch could create butter from goat milk, ironically butter itself is useless for Warly (but not for team), but it will open the way to 3 butter dishes on a more permanent basis. And I don't agree that tree perks should weaken character cons. What's the point of the serious cons then? If they dont affect anything. I agree with you on everything, I worked on this idea in the post I made about Warly and I think maybe there are some ideas I like too.
