War saddle could use a few buffs.

Recommended Posts

Both war saddle and glossamer saddle are supposed to be upgrades to the regular saddle, however, while glossamer is a direct upgrade, that provides more speed with no drawbacks, war saddle allows to deal more damage, at the cost of having less speed, than one would have with a regular saddle.

As opposed to glossamer saddle, which can be reliably crafted in the first 10 days, War saddle costs 4 steel wool, which makes getting it early incredibly unlikely, and getting it in general pretty rng dependant. This isn't really a big problem, but combined with it being slower than a regular saddle, it makes war saddle pretty niche(I still use it sometimes, if I have the time to get it, but mostly if I'm playing Wendy).

I think that war saddle should either have the same speed as a regular saddle(after all, glossamer doesn't lower your beef's damage, so why should war saddle lower your beef's speed?) or it should have some other benefit, that would justify the trade off(for example, the immunity to getting knocked off your beef. It is a saddle for fighting, so wouldn't be too weird if it helped in fighting enemies that would normally counter beefalo riders). Maybe even both, although that may make it a bit too good, so maybe not.

I've been thinking about this as well. I don't think this as necessary.

I think the lower speed should be moved from the saddle to the Ornery tendency. Because compared to default, Rider is faster for lower damage, while Ornery has more damage for same speed.

The thing about Ornery tendency is that while it isn't any slower than the default tendency, it has the minimum of 45% obedience, which means you need to feed it a twig or a lightbulb pretty much every time you wanna ride it. It doesn't really take much resources, but it is pretty tedious, so I'd say it's sorta balanced out, all things considered(at least imo, I know some people don't view this as such a big deal).
