LimE3228
Greetings, I have trouble with Ping or Lag. When I being host (lag compensation is on) I still have feeling of how character move, picking, fighing, etc. doing it slowly that it should be. When I turning off lag compinsation character moving like ping is high. I don't know what to do. Quality of my internet is high. I tried to play without mods, on/off some graphic. Not working. Help please.
_zwb
Press backspace to see your current ping in the bottom right corner. If you've turned off lag compensation and the ping is still high then it might be mod, software or hardware issue

Captain_Rage
Are you running the 32 bit version or 64 bit version of the game? Are you running any programs that use lots of RAM while playing?

_zwb
check this klei article out it might be that your GPU doesn't work well with DST
Captain_Rage
I've seen something similar on a friend's computer and assumed it was the CPU that was lacking, although your CPU should be able to run the game without hassle. Do you experience the same problems when you join games that are hosted on other computers?

But I still don't know why this Lag happens. 21 hours ago, Captain_Rage said: I've seen something similar on a friend's computer and assumed it was the CPU that was lacking, although your CPU should be able to run the game without hassle. Captain_Rage
Peculiar. Are you playing on a wireless connection....?? Try restarting your network equipment (including the router and any switches).

Captain_Rage
AllFunNGamez goes through some performance related aspects in this video. If you are sure that disabling all mods doesn't make a difference we have to look elsewhere. Unfortunately your motherboard is around a decade old. It could simply be a bit lacking to run DST at this point, along with the CPU, especially in worlds with many entities. When you have start your world, how much RAM is DST using and how much RAM is still free on the system? Use Ctrl+Esc to bring up the system monitor on Windows. Do you use any nVidia software besides the GPU drivers? Turn off any v-sync, scaling, anti-aliasing, overlays or similar options. How are other games performing? Do you have Don't Starve? Does that game show similar behavior? Is it only DST that behaves this way? In DST, try enabling Small Textures, Netbook Mode, Texture Streaming and Threaded Render to see if it makes any difference (you might have to restart the game after changing said options). You can also try changing the refresh rate and disabling full screen (speaking of nVidia overlays).

About "start world", there is screenshot: About "Disable/Enable in Graphics" when I Disable texture streaming and threaded render, my movement begin to move slower that enabled. I think my main essue is my PC. I also disabled v-sync, scaling, anti-aliasing, overlays. Anyway, I am very greatful for your attention to my problem. Captain_Rage
Thanks for the information and screenshot. It makes troubleshooting a lot easier. Looks like not having enough RAM could be the bottleneck. It likely is. When RAM won't suffice the computer (by default) will store temporary information in a swap file that is written on the hard drive (which is a lot slower than the RAM; reading included). Either adding additional RAM (hardware) to the computer or decreasing the memory usage in Windows could potentially help. From what I understand Windows 10 is pretty bloated and comes with a lot of unnecessary pre-installed programs and features. You could try to slim it down. There are numerous guides how to remove said programs or disable them from running when the computer starts. It could definitely be worth a shot, but depending on your general computer know-how it can be a little bit tricky or even difficult. (Arguably disabling some services and whatnot is not difficult but it might get technical). How much RAM is in use right after the computer boots up? How much RAM is in use once you start Steam? It sounds good that you turned off all fancy settings in the nVidia panel. Sometimes they might limit performance in strange ways. Ideally, post a screenshot(s) of the nVidia settings. The best thing would still be to free Windows from using up too much RAM for no reason. Oh, also, post a screenshot of the Task Manager of your currently running programs so we can see how much memory they use (be mindful of your privacy when posting).
