DST gets a lot of love from developers but

The game really cool , l love to play when new content comes, but developers totally forgot about DS ! Recently I bought mega pack of DS . And I can’t play it ! Coz all the time game crashing, playing on ps4 pro . And I’m writing it here coz I want developers put attention on DS and finally FIX IT ! I think it’s a shame give all time only dst , and forget about single ds. If I could return funds on ps4 I would love to do it and forget about about such a buggy game , but I can’t (it’s not possible) so please FIX GAME ! My apologies to everyone whom I recommend play  DS , before get DST . Game crashing when I play hamlet and shipwrecked.

Hope it will come as soon as possible . I bought game which I can’t play! Really angry about it . In our reality, selling broken games is becoming the norm. Didn’t expect that from Klei …

It's not something that they would have wanted to happen I imagine, but DS is a decade old at this point and isn't their main priority anymore. It is very fortunate that they were able to find a way to come back and update it with potentially 0 profit incentive. 

Despite that though it is true that DS was abruptly left in a very buggy state after the Hamlet DLC came out and consoles only had more issues with the game that probably weren't even in PC. But of course they need to make other games - so there wasn't anyone working on DS for a long time to address any of that, let alone make sure the console ports are stable Until recently of course, which is why we now have the mega update you see linked above. It is quite a great update and addressed many issues the game had while also bringing in some useful stuff that was only in DST. I'd be satisfied enough if that was the final update ever beyond more bug fixes.

Like already said though it's not out for console yet. I assume the porting process for other platforms can only begin after it's finished on PC, not ideal to have to wait but that's always how console updates have worked. So hopefully when that happens the console versions (and dare I say the cursed mobile port) will be a lot more stable.

 This is wrong , it’s should be their main problem ! Game which comes before DST so badly working . First they should fix it , and then earn money on it ! While I do agree with Klei leaving singleplayer done, but when game-breaking bugs appear, they should be adressed someday.

I think the game is finished and alright though.

That they’re done with single player it’s ok , even they promised new content for it .. I playing mostly dst (I bought all skin there ) and before I supported Klei buying different their games , and I recommend a lots of people their games …and alws say they just small company don’t be so harsh on them , but now my eyes open . People stop closing eyes for all their mistakes. It’s company which earns money , and didn’t give you a proper game which is not working on ps 4 . I think if game broken it’s shouldn’t be at store ! And they should fix it not someday , but as soon as possible.

But they did fix it and even added some bits of content. You just need to wait for the console port  It's not like the game was completely abandoned  - more important things just took up their schedule. I do think that the console versions probably get the short end of the stick a lot - especially having to wait longer for such an important update - but of that comes down to the fact they are separate ports from the PC version and don't follow the same development process.

I don't recall saying I think it should work like this - but that's often the reality of running a business. Of course DST is going to get more development priority - it's the sequel to DS that more people play, as well as being a live service game that helps pay bills so the developers can have a roof over their heads.

That's generally what they try to do, but "as soon as possible" can mean a long time if we're talking about game development with organized schedules. Devs can't just pause DST development suddenly to work on DS when it has many players who are expecting a constant stream of content - unless they wanted to do a rushed job. They had to wait until they could find someone experienced enough with the code and had the spare time to do it beside everything else they already had planned - which is exactly what happened with the Mega Update and the product was likely much better because it wasn't rushed.

I get this is frustrating, don't get me wrong. I am a total fanboy of DS and was very frustrated with the way it got treated at one point - but I've also grown up watching the developers and their company evolve as well to understand it's not done out of malice. Just need to be patient.
