Weird behavior of Pigs

Recommended Posts

In game's setting, Pigs are afraid of the dark, so they go back to the house at dusk and night. This shows that the house means a lot to them.  Attacking a Pig will aggravate it and up to 5 Pigs within 30m. But if you hammer down a Pig House, they actually do nothing even though they are nearby. It's kind of weird. Conversely, if you dare attack a Spider Den, you'll regret your actions in no time. Would you consider modifying how the Pigs react when their houses are attacked?

I want to make my point more clearly, pigs defend themselves, pigs guard nearby mates, which means they know to guard what's important to them. The house is important to them, so they should guard their own house, especially if they are nearby.
If pigs can't react to house being attacked because of their intellect, it's weird that they can build houses. Therefore, I suspect that this setting is not the original intention of the designer.

But did they really build the houses themselves? Don't Starve: Hamlet says that the Pigs originated from there, so perhaps the Hamlet variety of Pigs (which have Workers) built the houses for the non-DLC Pigs (who are never shown to build)?

If they cared that much for their homes then you'd think they'd have attacked you right from the start of DS for breaking them, like the Hamlet Pigs who panic when you try to hammer the houses in a city.

I don't see it as an oversight or a flaw, pigs generally aren't aggressive towards non monster characters. It's been like that for a decade (same goes for bunnymen) so there's no actual point on changing it.

What IS a weird behavior is how pigs forget to chop trees often and goes back to player despite being in range of chopping. Then again, they are dumb.

What I would love is ways to upgrade your pigs to be stronger or smarter in some ways... Maybe could do tasks for you (like cult of the lamb followers wink wonk crossover(?))
