This will allow him to tank a hit with a football helmet while going into and out of transforming. Hate when people compare bearger to woodie. You get awesome wood chopping power from day 1 when its most useful in setting up a base. You access bearger a whopping almost 10hours into your server. There is no debate, woodie is leagues better at wood chopping than bearger Tbf most people use the bearager debate as a excuse to say chopping speed doesn't matter people tend to compare him more so the Wurt and Maxwell since he's slower than them but in my opinion I feel he's fine where he is as well on chopping speed considering his chopping powers don't require a resource be it food or fuel. 21 hours ago, Riddla said: Sooner or later, when you feel comfortable enough with the game to courageously stockpile on strong resources, you'll simply replace the forms with them, because the drawbacks the wereforms bring are very punishing and do not feel as rewarding anymore. That's actually kinda where part of what I feel like the issue with the moose being a fighting from by the time you have access to the moose it means you've likely gotten access to gold and by that point you've got access to hambats true his charge won't be powercrept but his damage output definitely will basically as soon as you get access to it. That being said if no other changes were made at all two things I'd love is if Kiel made it so the you didn't need to do each wereform's specific task to keep the meter from draining faster and What chegg said about keeping items equipped without their effects in wereform. If the meter didn't drain so fast the between work loads the usefulness of the beaver and moose would go up a ton. For example you could replace using a hammer and pickaxe in the ruins or you could just travel to multiple locations that are spread out to gnaw things you might need. As for the moose when using him in boss fights like dragonfly or toadstool you wouldn't need to rely on extreme measures to keep your meter up during your downtime. You’d have an easier and better time if you played woodie as if he was Wilson than using his actual perks Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/147176-lets-talk-woodie/page/2/#findComment-1630379 Share on other sites
Atkvin
I think the transformation mechanic needs a small overhaul as a whole. Like mentioned, it's just such a punishing and stiff mechanic for so little value... you drop your equipped items/have to make room for them to keep them lose all your hunger can't even pick up items or use stuff in your inventory and the only way to undo the transformation is by staying still/avoiding the task associated with the form... which can also affect any downtime you can't help in the case that you do want to keep using the transformation for the menial tasks they're capable of. And - also as mentioned - what the heck happened to Lucy? She used to be vital to Woodie, but now she's just a glorified tool that talks. What if as Woodie's anchor to his humanity, she allowed him to transform back prematurely? Transforming into a wereform would turn the Hunger bar directly into the transformation meter - setting his hunger at the time of transformation as a timer, that drains slightly faster and retains the amount of hunger consumed during the transformation when he untransforms... while letting the meter hit 0 would automatically turn Woodie back, starving with 0 hunger. (To facilitate weregoose in particular, maybe Woodie would be able to summon her to him anytime, even while transformed - or Lucy would come to life and follow Woodie around whenever he transforms, and simply interacting with her would return Woodie to normal.) To me, this vague concept feels like it would greatly smooth out Woodie's mechanics, by giving the player control over when the transformation ends, giving Lucy a purpose similar to how she used to warn off the curse, and allowing a Woodie that maintains his hunger regularly to get more time out of his wereforms, rather than just staying close to starving often to lose as little hunger as possible after transformations. In addition, the wereforms themselves need some love too! In particular, if the wereforms' other limits like not being able to use armor and eat normal food remain (which, I kinda feel should stay so Woodie doesn't just stay in the forms 24/7, though not dropping his equipped items would be nice qol) -- I think the werebeaver should be allowed to eat wood-based items to heal Woodie's stats. I can't speak for everyone, but I recall enjoying playing Woodie in a very aggressive and messy way, speedrunning my way to the Lunar Island and scrapping together the cheap cost of the transformations to survive. I like the idea of the beaver gaining some survival utility, allowing Woodie to convert wood items it gnaws down into cheap stats in dire situations, at the cost of said resources and a totem. On top of that, what if you were able to eat totems to just quickly switch from any wereform to another? Just imagine converting from the weremoose into the beaver to heal up on wood, then turning back (at the cost of 3 totems in total) to return to the fight! (Or maybe this would be an ability available during full moons, switching between forms without totems - since eating totems to swap would require the player to have access to their inventory.) Lastly on the topic of progression, is anyone a little disappointed the Moosegoose has no interactions with either the were-goose or were-moose? I dunno, I'd like it if those two transformations were able to gain a bit of progression after Woodie defeats their canadian freak of a cousin... say, the goose gaining the ability to create a single weather pain gust, and the moose able to do a mob-disorienting honk, both at the cost of their transformation meters/i.e Woodie's hunger meter. I really like this idea. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/147176-lets-talk-woodie/page/2/#findComment-1630668 Share on other sites
