Lag when switching to a new day in the game

Recommended Posts

Most likely the game save procedure is implemented to run on the UI thread and so things “lag” when it takes more than a user-imperceptible unit of time to save the game.

Is the the lag worse than any of the rest of us experience?

The game lags on save in Don’t Starve (solo) too, FYI.

I guess there's nothing to do, I usually get guaranteed hits when killing bosses for nothing

I play the game alone, but when I save every day, lag comes in and this makes my job difficult at that moment, how can I prevent this?

The game always stops for half a second (or less) during the automatic daily save, this also stops time for mobs so they can't move either, and Charlie can't attack you during this brief time.

If your lag after save is longer than that, check if any mod is interfering with the game. Try disabling mods and see if it helps.

Just a bit more info: Worlds also get laggy if your computer has poor CPU processing, or less than 8 Gigs of Ram (or both). Worlds can get sluggish regardles of how powerful your PC is, when a lot of entities (stuff) are on the ground. For potato computers suffering there isn't much to do but to improve/change computer, and for littered worlds, you can try cleaning stuff putting them in chests, or removing them with c_removeall command

There is an actual easy solution: save manually beforehand. Autosaves don't happen if there's a recent one, no idea about the exact time limit, but I'm guessing 4 segments? So that's 2 minutes.

You can type c_save() into the console, or use something that gives you an actual save button, iirc the mod "too many items" does that exact thing, among many, many others.
