Hopeful future QoL update recommendations

Recommended Posts

1. Would like more armor types. We have a lot of materials to work with but can only use a small portion of them.

2. Houndius shootius should be stackable.

3. Certain materials should stack to 40. Example: gold, logs, etc.

4. Miner hat should last longer. It dies way to quickly and is a pain to constantly refuel it when I need it most.

5. Wolfgang's mighty meter drains a little too quickly and would like it to last longer, even if it was a little

I'm not much for typing a whole lot, but I think these would be nice in the future. This is only my opinion so please, no threats or very hateful words.

Sadly this won't be part of a QOL update (least very unlikely). For the most part QoL updates don't add numerous new items, just a few here or there unless Klei dedicates a section of the QoL to Armor (see recent Tallbird update and Tallbird foods as an example).

As for my personal desires.
1) Bramble Trap and Bramble Husk do not damage walls, or a Bramble Wall in the Greenthumb Tab that is immune to said Bramble Damage. (I want to make Bramble Trap Farms damn it!)
2) Bramble Traps can be reset while in Bloom without having to interact with them (Thanks for bringing this up Hornette I love it)
3) Warly benefits from Food Based Buffs longer than other survivors. (Saw someone mention this somewhere and love the idea)
4) Literally anything that makes Lucy more important to Woodie. Right now Woodie is 95% his wereforms and 5% Lucy. I want it to eventually be 50/50 like it was in DSSolo.
5) Accessibility. It is really lacking for a game in the modern era. Yes there are games that are worse than DST but Accessibility is EXTREMELY important for players. Having more options would benefit the community. Examples: Color Blind Filters, Audio location pings, entity highlight outlines, brightness, more supported languages, etc.
6) World Generation updates. (Unlimited possibilities but I feel this will be a stand alone update rather than QoL considering how complicated it is)
7) Barnacles can go inside the Tin Fishin' Bin. They are animals just like fish, why can they not go in?
8) Repairable Fur Roll with Sewing Kit, bump uses from 3 to 4, Sewing Kit restores 2 charges of the Fur Roll. Repairable Tent too with Sewing Kit too maybe?
9) Make Lazy Deserter work for Solo Players! Please!!!
I know there are more but I forgot honestly.

1) Infinite Thermal Stone
2) Grass Geckos drop grass tufts
3) Tameable Koalefants
4) Adding popular mods like Combined Status, Closer Placement, Geometric Placement, as base game config options
5) Allowing Abigail to wear hats
6) Config options to force important set pieces (especially Reed Trap and Triple MacTusk)

This is a good suggestion because warly benefits the same way other characters do by eating his speacial dishes.

You can change to warly, cook all the foods you need, then change to any other character and you have no penalty at all.

If warly had something like the effect of his dishes last two times more only for him, then it would be effectively a drawback in swapping charcaters (and also it gives warly a buff)

I totally agree with that.

In addition, the implementation of the Steam Input API would help people with physical disabilities to rebind controls accordingly to their disabilities and their controllers (standard or not). I meant the possibility to link a key to an in-game action and not a key to another (the later is already possible with Steam Input on the player side), DST requires using two keys to execute certain actions (to drop a lantern for example).

1. I wish I could toggle an option for some other way of indicating a slipping sanity than having the color sapped out of the world with a wobbly effect near the edge of the screen. Maybe I am missing something in the options and someone could help me find it, but the insanity effects always bug me.

2. The first day of spring is deceptively cold. Why can't the game progressively warn me about how cold I am getting like it does with winter? One second I'm fine, the next my screen is frozen solid.

3. I wish that swapping a tool in hand for one in the inventory would always make the former tool take the inventory slot of the latter. Sometimes I get in a fight, swap from my walking cane to my spear, and then I can't find where my cane went to because I don't recall its saved location. I've been holding the cane out for 30+ minutes and have no idea where it teleported off to. Whenever I start a boss fight, I first have to teach the walking cane to be in the left most inventory slot by clicking it in there before repeating the same practice with my first weapon. Otherwise I play "I Spy" under duress.

4. Quick stacking items from my inventory into the chest I currently have open would be a luxury. Sometimes I have multiple stacks and missed something I meant to store, but I don't realize it until I've already walked off.

5. My Smallish Teenbirds don't follow me anymore if I disconnect, even if I am in single player. It is not a huge concern because its far safer to raise them when they don't follow me into danger, but its still disappointing.

First they need to re-do enemy damage values and all armour protection percentage values, the new dreadstone armor clearly shows that klei cornered themselves with the 90-95% armours, especially since it's 'special ability' is regeneration...

Distortion can be disabled. Colour sapping unfortunately cannot, which would be a nice feature to be added.

As far as I recall, you get an overlay of freezing when your character reaches 0 degrees and once they go under that, they start taking freezing damage. This is pretty tiny of a warning so if it could start very slightly earlier it could be pretty nice. Same for overheating.

I think he means during spring when you can instantly take freeze damage out of nowhere when you're slightly wet.

Since this thread is discussing future QoLs, I’d like to bring something to Klei’s attention.

When using an Axe, and that Axe breaks- you automatically equip another from your inventory if you have one.

This should apply to Spears & Tentacle Spikes as well.. to prevent the awkward moment where your weapon breaks and you foolishly slug fisticuffs with your foe as you fumble through your inventory to equip your next available weapon.

If Football Helms, Torches & Axes/Pickaxes auto equip- Why are Spears/tentacle spikes the exception?

If I have a stack of 34 sticks & I pick up a stack of 6 sticks, they should auto stack to 40, instead of having a stack of 34 & 6 I thought a previous qol made this change but it appears more recent updates have broken this feature again.

WORLD
1. Renewable graves
2. Enlightened Crown's containers closed by default instead of open
3. Feather Pencil having durability or being infinite (like the razor)
4. Clothes having more visibility. How can we use them more instead of a backpack/armor/amulet the entire game?
5. Critters update. Critters with 2-4 slots, it would be a way to rethink the extreme use of backpacks.
6. Thermal Measurer revealing the season, a good first step for people to move away from Combined Status.
7. There was a whole update to farming, which made it more complex, perhaps it's time for a kitchen-focused update.
8. Just like the global pause mod came into the game, put other mods that essentially fits the game, especially from Hornet:
8.1 Sea Salt Lick
8.2 Rainy Shell Bell. Now that controlling rain is really something in the game, a Shell Bell as a Crab King drop (that has terrible drops) can change everything and this would also be a way for players to visit the Crab King more often, instead of killing it once, just as a step to kill another boss.
8.3 Ice Glaciers. Brought this as an example of simple changes that would make the sea sound less empty
8.4 Use green amulet on buildings such as Hermit's house and Lunar Siphonator — Also, we get back the two of three Restrained Static. Seriously, the only really bad thing about this game, in my opinion, is having to do the Wagstaff event three more times in order to kill the Celestial Champion again.
9. Not a QoL, but: skins for items that don't have any skins yet: Fishing Rod, Morning Star, Cartographer's Desk and Desert Googles — one more for Moggles would be nice too.

CHARACTERS
1. WX-78: Use Frazzled Wires for something, maybe combine with Electrical Doodad to increase the energy capacity by 1 or, perhaps, the least interesting way: reducing the cost of circuits that cost 3 slots to 2; An interaction with the giant tentacles and a way to keep them open longer.
2. Warly: Buffs last twice as long on the character; Buff the Chef Pouch.
3. Willow: Refuel her lighter; in parallel, Wickerbottom refuel the lighter with Fiery Pen; Something special with fire staff
4. Wickerbottom: Attack with the books, this animation already exists in the forge; A radius for The End is Nigh book; Can Maxwell stop reading ALL of her books? It's her books, the discussion is old, but come on, things have changed even more. I think he just read Sleepytime Stories and Applied Silviculture would be nice
5. Wortox: Some special interaction with Krampus, like double naughtiness; Klei meant well with this, but: removing the sanity gain when the soul is dropped. It didn't match
6. Wilson: Beard preserves food a little
7. Wormwood: He seems totally abandoned and outdated. Can traps at least stop damaging allies, please?
8. Woodie: Item for protection against full moon transformations; A short video, as well as other characters also received. And yeah, there is already a video
9. There are other characters, not listed here, that also deserve a quick revisit. I know that Klei may be moving on after the official reworks are over, but there are a lot of good suggestions out there.

CRAFT UI
1. Pin the TABS
2. Show the required crafting ingredients when hovering over a recipe
3. Appear the skins, instead of the item icons
