Looking to make the entire map SMALLER

Hi, I've seen some mods do it, and I've looked into their code but it seems confusing to me because I do not know or understand what file(s) they're actually manipulating.  Ever since the moonquay update though, a lot of these mods have broken.  The map is just too big for my liking sometimes, even on SMALL, I would like to be able to adjust the overall map size somehow.

They're not that different in size or biomes, but it's huge none the less for me a solo player, where should I look, or what can I do to shrink the whole world generation?
