combat/resource gathering/beefalo taming branch (plus a little re-do of the torch branch)

Recommended Posts

My proposal goes as follow:

Torch/light:

Make the current 6 torch abilitys into 3 abilitys (all buff the duration and brightness) and make them aply to all light sources, instead of the toss ability make it so wilson can fuel all equipable light with nightmare fuel as the final perk, give the toss torch ability to all charcters.

Resource gathering:

-33 % chance of getting double income from killing creatures/harvesting bushes, lureplants crops etc/fishing

-All animations related to harvesting or crafting gets severely speeded up

-Wilson can smell any resource and detect in which direction is the nearest source of it

-Final Perk: Wilson can use certain tools on certain creatures to obtain its resources without killing them and having a higher chance to get them (example use axe to get horns from sleeping goats, beefalos and narwhals, use a razor on spider to get silk, using a pick on rock lobster to get rocks etc etc).

This two paths of abilitys will be on the same branch and to unlock the final perks you will need two abilitys of the respective sub branch for each final perk. The whole branch could be called survival.

Combat:

-If wilson lands consecutive hits to an enemy each hit will do +1,5 dmg than the last one, the effect resets if wilson gets hit or doesnt attack in ten seconds, dmg multipliers doesnt affect the increased dmg.

-wilson can use all weapons as a boomerang.

-Wilson wont scare any creature like rabbits butterflys or koalafants.

-Final ability: If wilson is holding a weapon he will be able to perform a dash ability, this dash will deal x1,5 the dmg of the weapon he is holding, however if the dash doesnt hit an enemy wilson will fall into the ground locked into an aniamtion that will let him exposed to all dmg. this animation has invencibility frames.

Beefalo taming:

-For wilsons all befalos have a minimun obedience of 50 so wilson doesnt have to feed any kind of beefalo once tamed

-saddles and brushes have double the uses and double the effects (double the speed buff/increased dmg etc)

-wilson on beefalos can perform a charge attack similar to the moose form of woodie

-Final perks: beefalos rided by wilson can swim on shallow water and jump land gaps(of a maximun of 3 tiles), while swiming wilson can use tools like picks, fishing rods etc.

Same as before this two will be on the same branch and the final perks will unlock same as in survival, this branch could be called fighting tab.

I tried to think of all this perks as something that wilson learned out of experience and the fact that he got better at certain task by having to repeat them one million times.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, hope you have a good day.

For a single character, too many perks, and some perks will break the game.

loot perk is very powerful.

quick harvest is very powerful

Obedience perk allows you to tame beef without food or twig grass.

swimming beefalo is also very very powerful

battle buff is also very very powerful (he can kill bosses with walking cane)

overall, unbalanced.

If you tweak the balance some perks are very good

i say on the post that this perk aplys only once wilson tamed the beefalo, the only thing this perk does is making it so wilson can ride a warrior beefalo any time.

i said that the effect restarts every time wilson gets hit, and still you call it broken ? i think its a good way to encorage players to learn dogin, in orther to maximize your dmg you have to be exceptional at combat.

Not to mention that wilson can only have a maximun of this abilitys able at the same time, some of them requiring to have secific ones already activated.

I dont see any of these perks unbalance, however i can see some of them needing a tweak.

Whether something is powerful is based on average veteran's skill level, especially when it's advanced items. Buff to spear should consider more of new players but buff to dark sword should consider skilled players.

The buff of consecutive hits should consider both average players and highly skilled players. To average players, it's not hard to get 10 consecutive hits, which will increase 15 damage. That's close to wigfrid's damage output. But for a highly skilled player who can dodge all the hits, the equivalent damage can be as much as double or triple or even more depending on the boss' hp. Both the lower bound and upper bound should be taken into consideration. Not to mention that it's easier to dodge when one can handhold walking cane and gets more consecutive hits. This will allow him to abuse the power of whip which currently has relatively low damage.

Double the effects of the glossamer saddle will be just op, 110% movement speed for a total of 16.8 instead of 12.4 (all of this considering it's applied to rider beefalo), not to mention it's 16 uses

A lot of these sound way too broken.

I would agree with the combining of torch perks, the chance of additional loot, and maybe have him increase a bit the durability of tools. But everything else feels like having cheats on XD
Instead of a combat or beefalo tree, (not a lot of people tame beefalos too), I would rather give him a skill tree related to food and farming.

Resource gathering and faster picking animation ones are just amazing ideas.

A "resource" tab is a simple yet powerful ability. And it makes sense since the alchemy tab shows us how expert Wilson is at surviving.
