Thieverpedia Posted November 4, 2022 Share Posted November 4, 2022 Just thought I'd chime in here for the shadow duelists. They've historically been very, very useless. Anything with AoE will make them crumple and waste your sanity, for the simple reason that they have 75 health, no armor, and poor kiting skills. I'm proposing one of two changes to increase their usefulness greatly. 1. Simply give them Dark Sword damage and Night Armor damage reduction with no regeneration, while giving them better kiting skills compared to the average player. This would prevent them from dying almost instantly. 2. The second proposal? It's the more complicated, but interesting one. Same base damage they have now and they still follow Maxwell. But when Maxwell locks onto a target, they warp to form a shadowy circle with their master and move/attack at the same time Maxwell does with the enemy at the center. At any given time, Maxwell can right-click the duelist across from him to warp across the target and switch places with his duelist, dealing damage to anything caught in the crossfire. Does this sound familiar? It is. I've based this upon the Binding of Isaac: Repentance mod known as Epiphany. In particular, the part with Tarnished Judas, with similar mechanics. Yes, I know, it's unoriginal. But I think this could make Maxwell a unique glass cannon, as the duelist's survival will be dependent upon the player's skill. Anyway, just thought I'd throw my thoughts out there. Maxwell is definitely a great utility character in the beta. But I'd love to see the duelists to get more love.
