Shocky_Pink
Hello, Catcoons are quite interesting creatures of the constant, yet have always felt like something is missing about them. The befriending mechanic is neat, but feels like it has only dipped its toes in the pool of how cool it could be. The crafts are decent, in fact spectacular if you forget to fight mactusk or really just want something to deagro pigs with. That’s about it, it’s really the befriending mechanic that got me itching for a Catcoon update, to make this fluff ball of joy a bit more interesting. Best Friends: The Catcoon can be befriended, but only to an extent. Never does it truly feel like your Catcoon, but more so someone you shove grass into their face for a potential mole. That’s why I suggest potentially expanding upon this mechanic. Maybe after a while the Catcoon will start to stick by your side a lot closer, and after a very good while, let’s say 15-20 days, it will follow you out of the deciduous forest and defend you if you get attacked. This would be a simple yet effective way to make befriending these fluffy critters feel more awarding, as they become a loyal friend til the end of their 9 lives. Catcoon communities: With so many Catcoons in the Deciduous Forest, it only makes sense they would build a community over time. With this addition, Catcoons may run into eachother and then give eachother gifts which begins the bond between the two. After both get a few gifts from the other, they will be considered friend Catcoons, which will support eachother. If one gets attacked, the other will agro onto whatever attacked it’s friend. They might even actively prioritize finding items that regain health for injured friends. Pigmen’s best friend: Seems someone else has found a friend in these four legged balls of fluff, Pigmen may occasionally offer gifts to Catcoons and build a bond with them. When this happens, the Catcoon may follow the Pigman home and sleep outside the door. When this happens, that solidifies the friendship. Pigmen and Catcoons then work together, if the Catcoon wants a butterfly, the Pigman will go fight it, and a timer begins where the Pigman won’t eat anything to prevent it from eating the Catcoon’s lunch. Similarly to a Player tamed Catcoon, they defend their Pigman if they get attacked, and the Pigman will agro onto anything attacking the Catcoon. After a few days, local Pigmen in the area may even grow to like the Catcoon, and will occasionally give gifts to the Catcoon. Even then, the Catcoon never leaves it’s Pigman owner. Even upon demise, if the Catcoon has more lives left, it returns to it’s owner. Catcoon toys: Who wouldn’t want to play with their new found friends in the form of cat toys. I’d imagine some silk and feathers would be the way to create these splendid little additions. It may even regain sanity! Hunting for Cat tails: When hunting, if the last suspicious pile is in the deciduous forest, there is a chance a Catcoon spawns. This Catcoon is considered homeless until it makes a tree stump it’s home. Just cut down a tree and leave the stump and watch magic happen as in a puff of smoke the stump suddenly becomes a home for a new permanent Catcoon resident. Or you can kill it in cold blood, to each their own. hope you enjoyed this list of ideas to make Catcoons a tad more interesting, as these fluff balls have so much potential, Let me know what you think in replies. jp2k43
I thought the idea was really cool and fun, especially the community and the homeless kittens, although I don't think the interaction of cats with pigs is possible. Other than that, I loved it ♥. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/143782-catcoon-ideas/#findComment-1602740 Share on other sites
