Improve the new crafting menu

Recommended Posts

It's been a while but some serious problems for the new crafting menu are showing up. I made this thread for the beta a while back, but it never got looked into, and it's a huge problem when players aren't near science machine for example but need desperately to get items locked behind alchemy engine, like the thermal stone or the booster shot.

Should also mention that the button for the extended menu doesn't even look like a button Like how is someone new supposed to tell that clicking this opens the FULL crafting menu? It just looks like an accessory you put on top of the entire menu instead, some might mistake the quick crafting menu for being the entire thing or some other way to "unlock" craftables. Making a science machine gives more of an indication as that icon changes when near it, but what about when players need to craft more basics without having access to it? Gold becomes a problem for new players in old worlds and especially when joining harsher seasons, how are they supposed to figure it out then?

More items set by default in the quick menu and following menus would be awesome too so players can always craft the basic seasonal clothing items, stuff to refine and more. The buttons for switching between the quick menu layers are way too small as well, just look at how tiny this is!

No mention of the quick access buttons when hovering over any of this either, for people to understand controls, you need to show players when hovering over something that requires certain buttons pressed or held before interacting in different ways too. Here's an illustration, you had something this for ONI, why not implement for this game too to demonstrate controls? It's just that simple.

The point is to improve the extended menu that is clearly here to stay. Can't accurately help other players when you're using a mod that actively changes between 2 menu systems yourself, you're just complicating stuff for yourself even further.
