Shouldn't Rocketry be Suit Wearing?

I would think that Space Suits would come before Rockets in training. Not the way they are, learning to fly a rocket ship before using a space suit?

 

I mean, sure, I get the idea that you'd use a space suit in space, and use a rocket to get there, in reality... but, they're on a tiny asteroid and can wonder around in the vacuum before they launch rockets.
