Lusule
Is this a bug, or something I haven't done correctly? I'm trying to load a basic rocket with a small cargo bay module. In the original game, the dupes would load it manually directly into the cargo module, but they are not doing that in my spaced out world. I decided maybe I was meant to do it through a port loader, but the port loader says 'cargo transfer complete' and the dupes don't load using that either, so as far as I can tell, the only way to load the rocket is using shipping conveyors, but I need a mechatronics engineer to build those, and I thought rocketry was supposed to be easier and less advanced in spaced out. Have I misunderstood and I do need to move a mechatronics engineer from asteroid to asteroid to be able to transport solids, or is this a bug? Primalflower
you can place solid goods for transport in the rocket interior if you want to do that. I dont quite recommend solid cargo bays for non automated/non drillcone transportation. Lusule
Thanks, I did consider that but unfortunately I am still at the solo /nosecone combo stage and there is very little room for extra storage. meekay
The orbital cargo module is often more useful for this purpose. It looks like it's specialized for orbital drops but it's far more useful for general-purpose ad-hoc hauling. You can manually load 6T of pretty much anything, including critter eggs or seeds, and when you get to your destination you can instantly unload it with a click. It's also good when you need to transport something hot, like obsidian or iron fresh-from-the-volcano. This is an issue with solids as conveyors are locked behind the mechatronics skill. Most players resort to storage bins and sometimes filling them then deconstructing to save space while storing stuff on the floor of the spacefarer modules. As for how the loader and unloaders work to avoid the "cargo transfer complete" message you need to specify what cargo the module accepts. Ideally the rocket should wait to be fully loaded with fuel oxydizer and cargo and then launch automatically (which is kinda possible but requires the pilot to remain inside) at the destination it would be refueled unloaded and launch back on it`s own.
