Ancient Guardian was better at the start of the beta

It's weird that I've seen nobody mention it but the new AG now behaves completely differently from how it did when the beta first came out. At first it would always use its close range bite attack if the player was close enough, while the charge would be triggered if you stepped away from its melee range. This made the fight quite interesting since you could either approach it with a more traditional kiting strategy, which was riskier but would overall end up being a bit faster, or you could intentionally stay away from melee range to take advantage of the new pillar stuns and play it slightly safer. Since the shadow tentacles in the 2nd phase would occasionally make staying in melee range impossible you'd often try to utilize both mechanics depending on where they spawned and that added a nice element of positioning to the fight, especially since certain light sources would make it difficult to spot the tentacles once the light bulbs in the arena went dark.

But in one of the patches afterwards all of that went out the window and now AG will always use the charge no matter where the player is, with the bite attack triggering occasionally for seemingly no reason (you don't even have to stand close for him to use it, he just does, and it gets even more annoying because he has a tendency to lose aggro after each bite and just stand still before charging again). This removes the possibility of speeding up the fight by taking AG up close and forces you to use the more boring of the two strategies. The challenge of the second phase is also mostly gone because you don't even get the option to risk getting by hit them anymore, you're now forced to run around the pillars getting AG stuck in a rotating pattern whether you like it or not which means you never really have to worry about making sure they don't spawn at your feet (especially since shadow tentacles actually despawn now, though that was a good change imo).

I don't really see what was the point of this change, the 1st version of the fight was objectively better because you could approach it in different ways, but the new version only lets you use one strategy instead.

also is just me or he randomly does melee atacks when you arent near before losing aggro?

I find this happening to me a lot too. I'm at the other end of the arena after AG wakes up from a stun but he's decides he wants to bite the air where I once was lul
