Any news on Don't Starve 4th DLC?

Recommended Posts

We need more expansion of the original single-player experience! I prefer mainly single-player games than multiplayer, and as many, as recent, and as the first and foremost shippers of DST's predecessor, DS is still a highly sought game. Hamlet and Shipwrecked are both great games that I routinely come back to, and similarly DST keeps up, according to the people, but there's so much content that DST doesn't have. It was midway through Q4 of 2018 the early access of Hamlet, and it was a little less than three years between Shipwrecked and that, and between Shipwrecked and RoG, over a year and ah alf. Seems we're on time for a fourth expansion, barring routine maintenance for DST.

More to the point, has anyone heard or sighted news (or land) of anything solely for Don't Starve?

Well last year DST's 2021 roadmap did mention singleplayer fixes, but those never came, and the last update has been over a year ago. I think it's safe to say Klei is not actively developing singleplayer anymore, let alone fixing any issues. I hope if Klei does ever decide to make another singleplayer DLC they handle it better than hamlet. those 11k free copies probablly caused a lot of profit to be lost.

If Klei were to release another DLC for singleplayer, I'd eat it up however, even if it does end up like another hamlet. I think a western theme would work pretty good, or maybe a more gothic horror theme, still using the inteiors and pig economy.

I am not sure if the the game could even handle the another dlc. It's like a Frankenstein monster already being used to do things it was never meant to do. Shipwrecked was never even supposed to be part of the main game at first, integrating it into the main game was a last minute choice and implementation that carried onto Hamlet.

IMO Hamlet needs more fixes (there's some nasty stuff in there still) and an extra content update like shipwrecked got before anything else if they decided to update DS again. Otherwise QOL changes from DST would be a best case scenario IMO but I'm really not counting on it, there is a time you have to accept this game is complete.

I'd ship that. Hamlet is indeed pretty messy. Maybe start a petition??
