Data Bank, rocket mission

Recommended Posts

I am playing on the regular version, NOT the DLC map.

I just noticed I need to send rocket into space to get data bank to complete the research

I want to know if duplicants need to stay on another planet to "start over" after sending them into space?

I just set up solar panel and robo-miner, but robo-miner always get overheat damage.

Would crude oil be a good coolant to cool down the temperature if I set up a cooling loop?

You mean "Base game and not DLC" or "Classic starting cluster, not the Spaced out one"? Spaced Out DLC is not only a map.

If you are playing the base game there is no "another planet to start over". You send research modules with rockets to analyse planets, rockets come back with data banks.

In DLC it doesn't work like that. You need to build an Orbital data collection lab inside a rocket and while in space, have a dupe convert plastic to data banks. Data banks in DLC can also be found be "investigating" gravitas POI and analysing geysers.

Crude oil can be a good coolant but for cooling robo miners in space you need them to be covered in a liquid as there will be no heat transfer in vacuum. Best to put a few drops of oil on the robo miner and make sure there`s a drywall behind it so it won`t disappear, then make a cooling loop.

Would tempshift plate work the same as drywall ?

Yes, I played the base game, so duplicant just get into the rocket to pilot?

Is it possible to get resources from another planets?

I haven't launched the first rocket yet, so I need to research cargo part to get resources?

Yes. You will need the "pilot" skill. Rocket needs a pilot in order to launch

You get resources from other planets using cargo bays and other rocket storage modules (usually you only care about solids though, rare materials: isoresin, niobium, fullerene)

You would want to put multiple research modules on the rocket to get enough data banks when it returns so you can research the next thing. There is a guide in steam if you would like more info.

Yes tempshift plates will protect the liquid drop as well but they will also transfer heat to and from nearby tiles so you will be cooling the ground/wall the robo miner is attached to as well.
