Cheap Solution For Late Game Hound Waves Using Barrier Made Of Trees And Walls

Recommended Posts

Video Demo

Idea is simple as suggested in the title. Keep the hounds outside the wall and kill them one by one.

But is it hard to build? (The setup briefly in spoiler)

No, it's not hard. The construction procedure is easy to get used to and not time consuming. I built the whole thing under 5 minutes. (It was my second time building it). The speed can be improved if I didn't have to build the outline walls to show its shape for audience better understanding.

Comparison with other methods?

1. Pig town:

Spoiler

Con

- Unreliable, cuz sometimes pigs are dead when waves take place. Or full moon.

- monster unfriendly. Such as webber, wurt, wortex. Etc.

- More costly, time-wise and resource-wise

- Pigs eat the loot

Pro

- Automatic

- existing pig farms

2. Beef herds:

Spoiler

Con

- location dependent, sometimes they spawn far from your base location choice

- costly to customize its location.

- high stake in accidents of boss' massacre.

Pro

- Automatic

3. Shootius Cage

Spoiler

Con

- costly

Pro

- Automatic

4. Tooth Trap

Spoiler

Con

- High maintenance

Pro

- Reliable and automatic

5. Player specific methods

Spoiler

Con

- player specific

- can be costly

Pro

- they work well

Automation is a huge advantage that a vanilla tree wall doesn't have.

Pro and cons with the tree wall method?

Spoiler

Pro

- Inexpensive materials

- simple to construct

- fast to set up

- low stake in accidents

- scalable, can be bigger or small, can be set up in multiple places

- reliable, it works almost always. (risky if you are not battle-ready)

- low maintenance. Hammered walls can be reused, only maintenance is hammer, armor and weapon

- choose your location

- perfect for Wanda

- compatible with shootius.

Con

- requires players to be battle-ready for single hounds (which is trivia in this game).

- not automatic

- cost armor, weapon and healing depends on your battle skill

Why should you use it?

Building a hound wave solution is never fun to me. This convenient setup at least can be a good transitional solution if you have a fantastic setup planned. I demonstrated with wimpy wolfgang with spears by tanking, and it still works. With a good dodge skill, kiting immobile hounds should be easy.

In a server with more players, the cage should be expanded,

It also works for moon stone event.
