Tanmorik
Hey ho Dupes, I am curious because i startet some research a couple of times about the strange heat transfer from the port (un)loader. But can't find anything specific. Whats my Problem? Even if you build a steel portloader it will melt anytime sooner or later because it did not transfare heat not even to the tiles adjected underneath or to the port loader next to it. This is very annoying and the solution are all unpleasant. You can build drywalls behind so the steel would not get lost and the exhaust did more cooling over time. But overall i did not came to a good solution. I am a huge fan of the radiate to space mod, this would solve the problem quite nicely, but due to the strange behaviour of no heat transfer this mod does not help anything. What for solution did you came up with? Greetings Tanmorik Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/135164-port-loader-and-heat/ Share on other sites
MiniDeathStar
Make them out of tungsten. I haven't had a rocket melt tungsten so far. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/135164-port-loader-and-heat/#findComment-1511565 Share on other sites
mfd
Since the initial temperature of exhaust steam is 1726.9c, the temperature of steam that reaches port loaders is not very high. It is about 1900c - 2100c. Link to comment https://forums.kleientertainment.com/forums/topic/135164-port-loader-and-heat/#findComment-1511574 Share on other sites
NewWorldDan
I have a super duper rocket hub in progress. The basic idea is a giant rectangular box 7 tiles high and 90 tiles wide. The top is made out of iron, the bottoms and sides insulated tiles. This is filled with 20kg steam. All the way to the right are 15 or so insulted tiles. All along the top are igneous rock temp shift plates. This entire apparatus both cools the loaders and provides power to the entire setup. One note: allow 37 tiles from the top of the box to the top edge of the map to allow for max height rockets of 35 tiles. Plan ahead and think big. I'm planning for about 6 rocket pads and as many unloaders as needed. Still in progress.
