Guaranteed geysers

Recommended Posts

Hello again lovely people,

After being gone a while I come back to a lot of new & interesting starts. Last I played, we had the swamp cluster.

What I'm a little intrigued by, and I know I could possibly mod this, is the geysers I get in just about every start. It seems now that not only is a steam vent guaranteed on every start, *almost* every start seems to guarantee both a cool slush geyser and a cool brine geyser.

These things to a player with any experience trivialize everything. And I have gotten on so far by just not using them, but I wish some of the starts had that old challenge. You know, a race against time to avoid heat death. It's just not there anymore.

I think the only starting moonlet that *might* not have these is badlands. So, there's a huge jump from the 2nd most difficult start (is it upside-down or forest?) to the hardest start (badlands is just mean).

I wish we had a couple starts that were in-between, that didn't guarantee a cold renewable water source. If I could choose, it would be forest & the volcanic one.

There are several "Classic" starts and no cold geyser is guaranteed there. I think Terra, Swamp and Forest (SO starts) are in a good balanced place now. World traits can change SO starts a lot (not the guaranteed geysers though). New moonlets are also interesting (I haven't played a lot to have a concrete opinion for all five new starts though), each has different challenges.

Heat death is lurking even if you don't see it from the start

On flipped moonlet cluster there is no water geyser/vent on the starting (flipped) asteroid. It does seem on the teleporter linked asteroid there's a guaranteed cool steam vent, though if you disable teleporters you might have to hunt around, in my game there was also no watery geyser on the second asteroid (the one with all the metal volcanoes), so only 1 of the 3 early asteroids had a watery geyser, and that was the rather poor CSV.

Not that water is all that limited, with large static water/ice reserves in my game.
