Question About the Imitation of the Skins

I'm making a mod called Ice Furnace, which is basically equivalent to a Scaled Furnace that can cool players. Some players suggested that I add two skins to the Ice Furnace, which correspond to the two existing skins of Scaled Furnace (dragonflyfurnace_antique and dragonflyfurnace_crystal). I would like to ask whether it is allowed to create Ice Furnace skins based on these two Scaled Furnace skins and upload them to Steam Workshop? I will not disassemble the dyn file, but draw by myself with reference to the animations of these two skins. The created skin will have exactly the same shape and animation as these two Scaled Furnace skins, but with different colors (maybe you can refer to the modification I made to the original skin of Scaled Furnace in my Ice Furnace mod). I will not get any kind of profit through this mod, and if the skin imitation or modification is not allowed, I will dispel these thoughts, thank you!

maybe you should also change the desgin of the ice skin a little bit rather than just recolor the original skin?

IMO, you can do this, but because your skin works are classified into "player creation" accoring to the <player creation guidelines>,

the way you gonna use these skins in your mod might be as "public use" specified in the guidelines,

what you have to do is obey "the golden rules",

• Be open, welcoming and respectful. Basically, don't be a jerk!
• Follow our Terms of Service. (Honestly, if you're not doing something illegal, you're probably fine)

Thank you very much for your detailed explanation. It seems that my animation modification based on the official skin is in compliance with the regulations. I think I will start to make the animation next.

If I remember correctly the main limitation for skins is that you cannot reskin anything that already exists ingame, so you should be okay as long as you make unique enough designs
