where is the neural vacillator

Recommended Posts

It usually spawns somewhere on the home planetoid. In the swamp start it should spawn in one of the frozen biomes. However... i just looked at the worldgen files and it doesn't appear to be guaranteed, only highly likely.

Funnily enough the "office" POI (with the artifact on a pedestal) is guaranteed.

Quite a few biome presets have the possibility of spawning a vacillator, so it's possible you're just getting really unlucky everywhere. Assuming you haven't found one on any of the three main planetoids, there should be a good chance of finding one on the marshy asteroid (but still not actually guaranteed).

Thank you for your answer. I actually found my world a little weird: there are two frozen biome in my home planetoid and none of them have wolframite, 1/3 of the froest asteroid is empty in the middle, and not a single thimble reed in any of the marsh biome. Is it just a bad worldgen seed or is it werid enough to be a bug?

The ice biome in Swamp not having wolframite and the large internal cavern on the crashed satellite planetoid are normal... in fact the wolframite on Swamp is part of the vacillator POI, so if you don't have that you probably won't have any there :).

No thimble reed on the forest world is unfortunate but not unheard of. There might be buried seeds, even if none is visible.

For both of them there should be an asteroid further out that has more. There's a dedicated ice asteroid which definitely has wolframite, and the small marsh asteroid further out should have thimble reed (the one with the tree... you'll know if you've been there). That's also the other one that might have a vacillator.

There have been quite a few threads about poor worldgen and missing critters / plants. Swamp seems to be particularly messy, but all the Spaced Out starts have a bit of the same problem. It's hard to know what is a bug and what to chalk up to early access. Still if you get a particularly bad seed it's worth filing a report so that the devs can look at it if they like.

I'd say no neural vacillator anywhere might count, but then i don't actually use it much in Spaced Out. Maybe it's less important than in the base game. Are vacillator charges renewable, or do you only ever get one or two?

Actually I found the vacillator charges at the floor near the Artifact Analysis Station, so I think it might be a by product of analyzing the artifact
